Arunabh Kumar (born 26 November 1982) is an Indian entrepreneur, producer, director, screenwriter and an actor. He is the founder of The Viral Fever.

He was the CEO of The Viral Fever but later stepped down after being accused of sexual harassment by a former employee, and several other women. [1] [2] He rejoined TVF after a hiatus of 3 years as a Mentor. [3] [4]

Early life

Arunabh Kumar was brought up in Muzaffarpur in Bihar. [5] After completing his B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, he joined Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment as an assistant's position under Farah Khan. He was the assistant director for the movie Om Shanti Om . [6]

MTV rejected his creation Engineer's Diary which led to the launching of The Viral Fever. [7] [8]

Controversies

Arunabh Kumar found himself amidst a controversy in March 2017. Over 50 women stepped up to accuse him of sexual harassment after an anonymous Medium post titled The Indian Uber- That is TVF. [9] [10] [11]

On March 29, 2017, he was booked for molestation after a woman filed a police complaint in Mumbai. [12] Following this, a second FIR was filed against him while his whereabouts were unknown. [13]

On 16 June 2017, Kumar, accused in multiple sexual harassment cases, stepped down as TVF CEO and gave the charge to Dhawal Gusain. [14]

On 28 December 2022, Mumbai Court acquitted Arunabh Kumar of all charges, years after he faced charges for sexual misconduct. [15]

<i>Om Shanti Om</i> 2007 film directed by Farah Khan

Om Shanti Om is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language masala film written and directed by Farah Khan, co-written by Mayur Puri and Mushtaq Shiekh, and produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. Spanning three decades, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan as Om Prakash Makhija, a poor junior film artist in 1977, who falls in love with a secretly-married film actress Shantipriya, portrayed by Deepika Padukone. Her husband and a film producer Mukesh Mehra, played by Arjun Rampal, betrays her and murders her in a fire. Om witnesses this and is severely injured while trying to rescue her, resulting in his death as well. Being reborn as rich superstar Om Kapoor in 2007, he sets out to seek revenge from Mukesh with the help of Shanti's doppelganger Sandy. Shreyas Talpade and Kirron Kher appear in the film as well and cameos from several Indian film celebrities are seen in several sequences and songs.

Biswapati Sarkar is an Indian script writer, who previously worked as the Executive Creative Director and Writer at The Viral Fever (TVF), and is presently working at Posham Pa Pictures, a new studio he started along with Sameer Saxena, Amit Golani and Saurabh Khanna. He is also known as 'Arnub' for of his parody of Arnab Goswami in his YouTube sketch series Barely Speaking with Arnub. In his series, various celebrities have been featured such as Shahrukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar, Sunny Leone, Arvind Kejriwal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anil Kapoor and Chetan Bhagat. Permanent Roommates is an Indian romantic comedy web series produced by The Viral Fever Media Labs. It was created by Arunabh Kumar, the founder of TVF, who also worked as the executive producer of the series. Written and developed by Biswapati Sarkar along with Sameer Saxena, the series is directed by Saxena and Deepak Kumar Mishra. Starring Sumeet Vyas and Nidhi Singh, this series revolves around a young couple, Tanya and Mikesh, who after being in a long distance relationship for three years, face the prospect of marriage.

The series follows the life of a 12-year-old Harshu Gupta, played by Vishesh Bansal, in Jaipur, Rajasthan in the late 1990s. It also stars Mona Singh, Akarsh Khurana, Ahan Nirban, Ruhi Khan, Prasad Reddy, as members of the Gupta family and their acquaintances.

<i>Kota Factory</i> 2019 Indian Hindi-language web series

Kota Factory is an Indian Hindi-language streaming television series created by Saurabh Khanna, directed by Raghav Subbu & produced by Arunabh Kumar for The Viral Fever. The story is set in Kota, Rajasthan, an educational hub famous for its coaching centres. The show follows the life of 16-year-old Vaibhav who moves to Kota from Itarsi. It shows the life of students in the city, and Vaibhav's efforts to get into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) by cracking the Joint Entrance Examination. It also stars Jitendra Kumar, Ahsaas Channa, Alam Khan, Ranjan Raj, Revathi Pillai and Urvi Singh in prominent roles.

Nidhi Bisht is an Indian actress, filmmaker and lawyer. She is one of the earliest members of The Viral Fever. She worked with TVF (2013-2020) as a Creative Director and later as, Creative Head for Girliyapa (2017-2020).

<i>Panchayat</i> (TV series) 2020 Indian comedy-drama web television series

Panchayat is an Indian Hindi-language streaming television series created by The Viral Fever for Amazon Prime Video. The series scripted by Chandan Kumar, was directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, which features Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik and Sunita Rajwar. It chronicles the life of an engineering graduate who joins as a Panchayat secretary in a remote fictional village of Phulera of Uttar Pradesh due to lack of better job options.
