Ashwin Kakumanu is an Indian actor, who is best known for his role as Ganeshan in Venkat Prabhu's Mankatha . [1]
Ashwin initially auditioned for a role in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa . The director, Gautham Vasudev Menon, was close to giving him the role, but Ashwin was noticed by the assistant directors of the film and who recommended him for the role of Arjun, the boyfriend of Sameera Reddy's character in Nadunisi Naaygal. [2] Ashwin Kakumanu later featured in Venkat Prabhu's Mankatha alongside Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja and Vaibhav Reddy. Ashwin appeared as a local Dharavi police officer, replacing Ganesh Venkatraman who had pulled out of the film. [3] [4] Ashwin next played a young scientist in A. R. Murugadoss's 7aum Arivu , alongside Suriya and Shruti Haasan. [5] He also appeared in a supporting role in Gautham Menon's Ekk Deewana Tha featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson. [6]
Ashwin had his first leading role in the 2013 comedy film Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara and went on to star in the Ilaiyaraaja musical Megha . Among his projects are Zero , a supernatural thriller that features Ashwin as a social worker, Thiri , directed by Ashok Amritraj, and Thollaikatchi , a "romantic comedy film with a social message" directed by M.Sadiq khan. [7] In Mani Ratnam's Magnum Opus Ponniyin Selvan, he plays the role of Senthan Amuthan.

Gautham Vasudev Menon is an Indian film director, screenwriter, film producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. He has also directed Telugu and Hindi films that either simultaneously shot with or remakes of his own Tamil films. He has won two National Film Awards, three Nandi Awards and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

Ajith Kumar is a Tamil actor who works mainly in Tamil cinema. Apart from a small role in the 1990 Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar, his professional career began three years later with his debut as a lead actor in Tamil cinema with Amaravathi (1993). Despite being a moderate success, the film helped him obtain more modelling assignments. He followed it up the same year with Prema Pusthakam, his only Telugu film to date. After Amaravathi's release, Ajith opted against acting, and instead tried pursuing a career in auto racing. While training for an amateur race, he injured his back and underwent three major surgeries, leaving him bed-ridden for a year and a half. Mankatha is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language action crime thriller film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, and produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri under Cloud Nine Movies. The film stars Ajith Kumar, in his 50th credited film, leading an ensemble cast which includes Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav, Premji Amaren, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash and Subbu Panchu. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the score and soundtrack, with Sakthi Saravanan working as the cinematographer and the duo Praveen K. L. and N. B. Srikanth as editors. Set in Mumbai, the film revolves around a heist of cricket betting money, carried out by a gang of four thieves, who are joined by a fifth man, and its aftermath. It's title is a reference to a card game commonly used in betting.
Nadunisi Naaygal is a 2011 Tamil-language experimental psychological thriller film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon that stars Veera, Sameera Reddy and Deva, with Swapna Abraham and Ashwin in other pivotal roles. The film notably has no score, instead featuring sounds designed by Renganaath Ravee. Produced by Photon Kathaas Productions and R. S. Infotainment, Nadunissi Naaygal released on 18 February 2011, simultaneously dubbed and released in Telugu as Erra Gulabilu. The title Nadunisi Naaygal is taken from the title of a poem of Sundara Ramasamy.
Ekk Deewana Tha is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, featuring Prateik Babbar, Amy Jackson, and Manu Rishi in lead roles. The film is a remake of Menon's own 2010 bilingual film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Tamil) / Ye Maaya Chesave (Telugu). It features reused soundtrack and film score composed by A. R. Rahman, while the cinematography and editing were handled by M. S. Prabhu and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively.

Rahman; lyrics are penned by Anantha Sreeram, along with Kalyani Menon and Kaithapram, the latter penning the Malayalam lyrics in the album. This is the sixth time that A. R. Rahman composed music for a direct Telugu film and the fourth time that he composed the entire soundtrack for a Telugu film. This also marked Rahman's comeback into Telugu cinema after six years.
