Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning

The Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning (APRCSL) was established as a platform for educational institutions and non-profit organizations in the Asia-Pacific region to share knowledge and experiences in service-learning. [1]

Contents

In the face of increasing societal and environmental challenges, the need to influence and empower our youths to actively develop and act on their sense of social responsibility is ever pressing. In both academic and co-curricular applications, Service-Learning plays a critical role in tertiary institutions in educating and engaging our youths to develop the knowledge and skills (Head), attitudes and dispositions (Heart) to make life choices that are socially responsible (Habit), in their journey of growth to become leaders in society.

LAMS, the Learning Activity Management System, is a free and open-source learning design system for designing, managing and delivering online collaborative learning activities. It provides teachers with a visual authoring environment for creating sequences of learning activities. These activities can include a range of individual tasks, small group work and whole class activities based on both content and collaboration. LAMS is 'inspired' by the concept and principles of IMS Learning Design.

Youth engagement is the sentiment young people feel towards a particular person, activity, place or outcome. It has been a focus of youth development, public policy and social change movements for at least forty years. According to a Cornell University program, "Youth engagement is one of the buzzwords in the youth development field. Similar terms are youth voice, youth involvement, youth participation, and youth in governance."

K M Baharul Islam is presently the Chairperson of Centre of Excellence in Public Policy and Government at Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. He served as the Dean (Academics) during 2019-2021 at the same institute. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland on 18 March 2020. In October 2021, he was invited as a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics.

The Association for Computing Machinery's Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W) supports, celebrates, and advocates internationally for the full engagement of women in all aspects of the computing field, providing a wide range of programs and services to ACM members and working in the larger community to advance the contributions of technical women. ACM-W is an active organization with over 36,000 members.

W.T. Chan Fellowships Program, also known as the Lingnan Chan Fellowships Program, is a six-month program established by the Lingnan Foundation in 2001 to commemorate Wing-Tsit Chan, former Dean of Lingnan University and Distinguished Professor of Chinese Philosophy and Religion. Celebrating the Lingnan motto "Education for Service", the program provides challenging educational and leadership opportunities for Chinese Students through service learning and intercultural experiences in the United States. At its core, the program seeks to nurture a life-long commitment to service.
