Asit Kumar Saha

Asit Kumar Saha (born 1950) is a former National level wrestler. He is now a wrestling coach in the State of West Bengal, India and the General Secretary of West Bengal Wrestling Association. Asit was trained by his father Sudhir Saha, International coach, from a very young age at Panchanan Bayam Samity, Kolkata. Asit was a State Champion from (1965-1973) in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. [1] He won the bronze medal in the Senior National Wrestling Championship, 1969. [1] In 1978, he obtained his International FILA wrestling coaching license from Iran. Asit managed the Indian wrestling team for the 1982 Asian Games held in Delhi. India won 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Asit also managed the Indian Wrestling team at the 1987 South Asian Games held in Kolkata, India. India won 7 out of 9 gold medals in the Championship. Further to this, he has managed the Indian wrestling team in several International Championships including World Championship. In 1987, Asit obtained his FILA Judge-Referee license at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Mumbai. [1]

Currently, Asit Kumar Saha holds the following positions listed below -

Asit started Women's Wrestling in West Bengal. [1] His trainee Runu Ghoroi is the first National Institute of Sports wrestling coach in the State of West Bengal. [4] In the Bangla - Bangladesh tournament 2011 held at Barasaat, West Bengal won 6 out of 8 gold medals in women's wrestling. Under his leadership, the 58th Senior National Wrestling Championship was held in Kolkata, India from 14 to 17 November 2013 at the Netaji Indoor Stadium after 75 years. [5]

Asit Sen was an Indian film director, cinematographer, documentary Filmmaker and screenwriter, who worked in both Bengali and Hindi cinema. He was born in Dhaka, now in modern-day Bangladesh, when it was part of East Bengal in British India. He directed 17 feature films in Hindi and Bengali, and was most known for the films Deep Jweley Jai (1959) and Uttar Falguni (1963) in Bengali, Mamta (1966), Khamoshi (1969), Anokhi Raat (1968) and Safar (1970) in Hindi.

Asha Roy is an Indian professional sprinter who won the silver medal for 200m in the Asian Track and Field at the 20th Asian Athletics Championships in Pune on 7 July 2013. Roy clocked 11.85 seconds in a 100-meter dash at the 51st National Open Athletics Championships, held at the Yuva Bharti Krirangan, Kolkata in 2011. Roy also ran the fastest 200-meter dash, clocking the tape at 24.36 seconds and anchored Bengal's 4 × 100 m relay team, which won the silver with a timing of 47.49 seconds at the Championships.

Aloke Mukherjee is an Indian former international football left back. He was active as a footballer from 1978 to 1997. He was named in the All Time best Eleven Indian Team by footballer and coach PK. Banerjee. He worked as deputy general manager and joint director–food in Food Corporation of India.
