Asy Syifa Kaila Saidah (born 16 April 2008) is an Indonesian artist. She is the youngest daughter of Islamic preacher Muhammad Yahman and civil servant Rita Puspa Zakaria.

Early life

Asy Syifa Kaila Saidah was born on 16 April 2008 in Bengkalis, Riau, as the youngest child and daughter of the three children of Rita Puspa Zakaria (1967), a civil servant, and Muhammad Yahman (b. 1968), an Islamic preacher. [1] She has an older sister, Erin Kartika Puspa (b. 2003), and an older brother, Muhammad Asyrof Al-Ghifari (b. 2005). [1] Her maternal grandfather was Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin (1913–2006), an ulama from Bangkinang based in Bengkalis, who was known as the founder of Al-Khairiyah Islamic boarding school and MDTA Mahbatul Ulum. [2] Zakaria was married to Siti Zainab (1935–2014), an actress, in 1956, and had seven children with whom Rita are the fifth. [3] Syifa went to SMA Negeri 1 Bengkalis in 2023. [4] On 20 November, she competed in English speech competition held by STAIN Bengkalis and won as the first place. [4]

Career

In 2024, Syifa participated in Lotus Art Courses Biennale Exhibition which was held at Surabaya Arts Council Gallery from 5 until 7 January. [5] She was chosen as one of 60 participants selected to present their work after being selected against hundreds of other people. [5] Her drawing was praised as depicting the function of art as a medium for children to understand the world outside and themselves, which is filled with pure colors, shapes, and ideas. [5] Syifa's other drawing will be featured in Terus Terang Art Exhibition which was held at Gallery Prawirotaman Hotel by Keprawirotaman Art under the vice of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Yogyakarta, from 3 until 25 February 2024, and was credited as works that represent artists from various regions and across generations. Haji Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin was an Indonesian ulama, politician, and writer from Bangkinang, Kampar. He was an ulama in Bengkalis Regency, and was the first head of Islamic religious administration in Bengkalis. Zakaria was the son in law of Tuan Guru Haji Ahmad, the first ulama of Bengkalis Regency, who along with him founded Al-Khairiyah, the first Islamic boarding school in Bengkalis Regency, in 1937, and teaching there until 1943. He was also the founder of MDTA Mahbatul Ulum, an Islamic school made as successor for Al-Khairiyah, in 1963, and Al-Ishlah Mosque, to support the teaching activities at MDTA Mahbatul Ulum, which both operates until now. In 2023, Zakaria was posthumously awarded the title of Regional Hero of Riau by the Riau Regional People's Representative Council. The school was established by Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin in 1963 as the successor to the Al-Khairiyah Islamic boarding school which was previously founded by him and Tuan Guru Haji Ahmad in 1937. As of 2020, the school curriculum is managed by Ministry of Religious Affairs.
