Racewalking Athletic discipline

Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. This is assessed by race judges. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from 3,000 metres (1.9 mi) up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi).

Joel Sánchez Guerrero is a Mexican race walker, who made his debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. There he was disqualified in the men's 20 km race. His greatest achievement was a bronze medal in the 50 kilometres walk at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Among his other international performances, he was the gold medallist at the 1999 Pan American Games and a silver medallist at the 1991 Pan American Games.

Jozef Pribilinec is a Slovak track and field athlete who mainly competed in racewalking. He was born in Kremnica. Pribilinec competed for the former Czechoslovakia at the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul, South Korea where he won the gold medal in the men's 20 kilometre walk event.

Christopher ("Chris") Lloyd Maddocks is a male retired race walker from Great Britain. He competed in five consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1984. In his final competitive race, the 50 km walk at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, he overcame a hamstring injury to finish in last place. In completing the race, he set the record as the first British track athlete to compete in five Olympic Games. Following his retirement, he became a sports journalist.

Jacek Bednarek is a male former racewalker from Poland, who represented his native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He set his personal best (3:51.34) in the men's 50 km walk event in 1988. He set a Polish national record in the 50 km walk.
