Atlas Saarikoski (born Akuliina Saarikoski, 1982) [1] is a Finnish social activist, journalist and anarchist.
Saarikoski has been involved in various civil rights movements, and has taken part in debates on immigration, animal rights, anarchism, feminism and sexual politics. [2] [4] [5] Saarikoski has written for the Green left Voima newspaper. [6] [7] She is the editor-in-chief of the feminist magazine Tulva . [2] [6]
Saarikoski has criticized the Tahdon2013 citizens' initiative, and argued that gay marriage is a bad political goal. She has argued that gay marriage is shaping into an endpoint for gay rights. She has stated that marriage is based on heteronormativity and norms concerning the nuclear family in addition to strengthening gender-based power relations, and marriage can not be taken apart from the history of racial hygiene and chastity. [8] Saarikoski has also criticized FEMEN for its anti-Islamic stance. [9] Saarikoski supports separate physical education classes for boys and girls in Finland. [10] She is a pacifist. [3]
The Finns Party, formerly known as the True Finns, is a right-wing populist political party in Finland. It was founded in 1995 following the dissolution of the Finnish Rural Party.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Finland since 1 March 2017. A bill for the legalisation of same-sex marriages was approved by the Finnish Parliament in a vote of 101–90 on 12 December 2014 and signed into law by President Sauli Niinistö on 20 February 2015. Further legislation to harmonise other laws with the legalisation of same-sex marriage was passed in 2016. The law took effect on 1 March 2017. Polling suggests that a majority of Finns support the legal recognition of same-sex marriage. Finland was the twentieth country in the world, the twelfth in Europe as well as the last Nordic sovereign state to allow same-sex couples to marry nationwide.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Finland are among the most advanced in the world. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity have been legal in Finland since 1971 with "promotion" thereof decriminalized and the age of consent equalized in 1999. Homosexuality was declassified as an illness in 1981. Discrimination based on sexual orientation in areas such as employment, the provision of goods and services, etc., was criminalized in 1995 and discrimination based on gender identity in 2005.

Presidential elections were held in Finland in January and February 2012. The first round took place on 22 January 2012 with advance voting between 11 and 17 January. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 5 February, with advance voting between 25 and 31 January. Sauli Niinistö was elected the President of Finland for a term from 1 March 2012 until 1 March 2018.

Wille-Werner Rydman is a Finnish politician serving as Minister of Economic Affairs, representing the Finns Party and formerly the National Coalition Party. Rydman was elected to the parliament in 2015, gaining 4,524 votes in the elections. He has also been a member of the City Council of Helsinki since 2012. He received a Masters of Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki in 2008, after which he worked as a parliamentary assistant. On 6 July 2023, Rydman was appointed Minister of Economic Affairs in the Orpo Cabinet.
The Liberal Party – Freedom to Choose, formerly known as the Whisky Party, is a classical-liberal Finnish political party, founded in 2015 and admitted to the register of political parties in 2016. Lassi Kivinen was elected chairman in 2022. The party was de-registered in 2023 after failing to win seats in two consecutive parliamentary elections. It was re-registered in January 2024.

He is also founder and former leader of the Power Belongs to the People party. He lives in Juva. Turtiainen was elected to the parliament in the 2019 parliamentary election. Turtiainen was expelled from the Finns Party for posting a tweet perceived as mocking the murder of George Floyd in February 2021.
Riikka Katriina Purra is a Finnish politician, serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of Finland, and Finance Minister, since 2023. She is also a member of the Parliament of Finland for the Finns Party for the Uusimaa constituency. In August 2021 she was elected the new leader of the party, after Jussi Halla-aho.
Awak Sabit Bior Kuier is a Finnish professional basketball player who competes for Reyer Venezia in the Italian Lega Basket Femminile and for the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She competes internationally for the Finnish national team. Selected by the Wings with the second overall pick in the 2021 WNBA draft, she was the second Finnish player in the history of the league after Taru Tuukkanen to be drafted, and she became the first Finnish player to play in the WNBA in May 2021.

The party was founded by Ossi Tiihonen as a result of a split from the Power Belongs to the People (VKK) party in February 2022, receiving 5,000 signatures on 19 April 2022, and being later registered on 6 May 2022.
