Traffic

Aua has access to the A 7 which is located to the west of the village. The on-ramp Bad Hersfeld-West is located to the south. Within Aua, there is an interchange between federal highway ( Bundesstraße ) 324 and state roads (Landesstraßen) 3153 and 3155.

Public transport is accessible through bus line 370, maintained by RKH Bus GmbH. [2]

History

First mentioned in 852, the place's name was Owe. It was founded in 1190 by the Abbey Hersfeld. The abbey was a monastery of the Augustinians which was relocated to Blankenheim in 1229. The Protestant church is the former church of this monastery. [3]

On 31 December 1971 Aua was incorporated into the new community Neuenstein. [4]

Arnsburg Abbey

Arnsburg Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery near Lich in the Wetterau, Hesse, Germany. It was founded by monks from Eberbach Abbey in 1174. Although heavily damaged in the Thirty Years' War it was rebuilt later in the 17th century and prospered in the 18th century, when much of the abbey was rebuilt in Baroque style.

Altenberg Abbey, Solms Premonstratensian nunnery in Hesse, Germany

Altenberg Abbey is a former Premonstratensian nunnery situated between Solms and Wetzlar, Hesse, Germany. It was founded in c. 1170 and dissolved in 1802. It had a strong connection with the House of Nassau, several of whom were nuns and abbesses, and some family members, including Otto I, Count of Nassau, were buried here; it was also a burial place for the Counts of Solms. The buildings were seriously damaged by a fire in 1952. Those that survive accommodate a meeting centre for the local deanery and since 2018 a small Protestant religious community.
