Bachimanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam Ravi, better known as B. V. S. Ravi, is an Indian screenwriter, director, actor and producer who works in Telugu film industry.
He was born in Nidadavole village in Andhra Pradesh and is a native Vijayawada. His father was a lecturer in Economics and his mother is a homemaker. Ravi did his schooling from NSM Public school, a highly reputed school in Vijayawada. After graduating in Civil engineering from VEC Engineering College, Bellari, he moved to Hyderabad to pursue a career in the movies. He is known to be a voracious reader. His writing style is known for quick wit and high drama.
He is married to Srilatha and resides in Hyderabad with his family.
Ravi has started out as an assistant to Posani Krishna Murali and has worked under him for over 54 movies. During this period, he had developed close assosiation with Koratala Siva & Boyapati Srinu.
In 2002, he cemented his place as commercial writer in the industry with his first story Girlfriend. He gained notable recognition as an assistant writer for the movies Bhadrachalam & Seetharama Raju.
Ravi started working independently in 2003 and had scored a major success with the critically acclaimed commercial hit movie, Satyam. He continues to flourish as a writer and has worked with K Raghavendra Rao, Boyapati Srinu, Koratala Siva, V.V. Vinayak, Puri Jagannath, Bommarillu Bhaskar, YVS Chowdary etc. He has written for all major stars in the industry - Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Mohanbabu, Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun, Raviteja etc.
His notable works as a writer include Satyam, Bhadra, Parugu, King, Denikaina Ready etc.
In 2012, he started his long term association with Puri Jagannath and has written for major projects Devudu Chesina Manushulu, Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu, Iddarammayilatho etc.
He is also an in-house writer for the production house Sri Venkateswara Creations helmed by noted producer “Dil” Raju.
Ravi ventured as a director with the movie Wanted starring Gopichand. The movie was received with lukewarm response from the audience and was declared commercially unsuccessful at the box office.
His second venture as a director was with the movie Jawaan starring Sai Dharam Tej. The movie was a moderate success and has received critical acclaim.
Ravi started his stint as a producer with the movie Second Hand. The movie has received rave reviews and has created a lot of buzz in the social media. The song “Subbarao” in the movie is known for being shot in single shot during the early days of digital movie making.
Kishore Tirumala has started his career as a director with this movie and Vijay Binni has debuted as a choreographer.
Ravi is also known as an actor and has appeared in minor roles in movies. He has appeared on screen in Krack, Dhamaka, Veerasimha Reddy, Waltair Veerayya among others. He is also known to have an acting role in the upcoming Raviteja movie, Mr Bachchan.
Ravi has started working in the OTT space with the blockbuster talkshow – Unstoppable with Balakrishna. The show is one of the marquee projects of the streaming platform aHa.
He also produced Sarvam Shaktimayam for Zee5. This is a devotional travelogue docu-drama which stood out to be a “one of its kind” project in the Indian streaming space.
Ravi also has written for the Netflix show Rana Naidu with Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati in the leading roles. It is a watershed moment in the career of Venkatesh Daggubati who is usually known for his soft roles in family dramas.
Ravi is currently working on setting up his own production House.
He is known to be working on a movie with Chiranjeevi for the production company Gold Box entertainments. He is also rumoured to have been signed as screenwriter for 2 Hindi projects.

Daggubati Ramanaidu was an Indian film producer known for his work in Telugu cinema. He founded Suresh Productions in 1964 which became of one of the largest film production companies in India. He was one of the most influential movie Moguls in Indian cinema. He was placed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most films produced by an individual, with more than 150 films in all official Indian languages. He also served as a Member of Parliament for the Bapatla constituency in Andhra Pradesh in the 13th Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004.
Daggubati Venkatesh, also known as Victory Venkatesh, is an Indian actor and producer known for his work predominantly in Telugu cinema and a few Hindi films. Venkatesh has a prolific career spanning over 37 years and is known for portraying a variety of challenging characters. Nandamuri Balakrishna, widely known as Balakrishna and Balayya is an Indian actor, producer and politician known for his works in Telugu cinema. Kandireega (transl. Wasp) is a 2011 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy action film directed by Santosh Srinivas and produced by Bellamkonda Suresh under Sri Sai Ganesh Productions. The film stars Ram Pothineni, Hansika Motwani, Sonu Sood and Aksha Pardasany with the music scored by S. Thaman. Released on 12 August 2011, the film was a commercial success, collecting a share of ₹22 crore at the box office. Tanish is an Indian actor and television personality known for his lead roles in very Low budget, small Telugu films. He has starred in films such as Nachavule, Ride, Telugabbai, Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda, and Nakshatram. He has also kickstarted a television career, as he was one of the contestants on the reality TV show Bigg Boss Telugu 2, which was hosted by noted Telugu star Nani.
