Velamakucha Venkata Ramana Reddy (born 17 December 1970), known professionally as Dil Raju, is an Indian film producer and distributor known for his works in Telugu cinema. He has also financed some Tamil and Hindi films and owns the production company Sri Venkateswara Creations. Raju has won two National Film Awards and was honoured with the Nagi Reddy–Chakrapani National Award in 2013 for his contributions to popular cinema. [3] [4]

Early life and career

Dil Raju was born in Narsingpalli in Nizamabad district of present-day Telangana. He was educated in Mudakpally and Nizamabad, and was interested in films from a young age. He later moved to Hyderabad and did automobile business with his brothers. He ventured into film distribution in the 1990s with the film Pelli Pandiri (1997) [5] and started Sri Venkateswara Film Distributors in 1998. [6]

Personal life

Raju married Anita and has a daughter, Hanshitha Reddy. Anita died on 11 March 2017 due to cardiac arrest. Raju later married Tejaswini in 2020. [7] [8] Tejaswini's name was changed to Vygha Reddy following her marriage as per astrology. [9] They have a son born in 2022. [10]

Nagi Reddy and founder of Chandamama children magazine.

The film stars Siddharth, Genelia, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. The film primarily revolves around the relationship between a father and son, in which the father's excessive concern for his son, and interference in his life, leads to the latter harbouring bitterness towards his overbearing father. The cinematography was handled by Vijay C Chakravarthy and editing done by Marthand K. Venkatesh. The music for the film was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, whose soundtrack of the film received positive reviews from critics.

The Nandi Awards are the awards that recognise excellence in Telugu cinema, Telugu theatre, Telugu television, and Lifetime achievements in Indian cinema. As his elder brother had the same initials and was known as B. N. Reddi, Nagi Reddi was popularly known as B. Nagi Reddi. Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni are an Indian film producer duo. They founded Arka Media Works, a film production company known for its works in Telugu cinema and Telugu Television Programs and Shows. The film is produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations and stars Sharwanand, Anupama Parameswaran, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha in key roles. An ensemble cast including Naresh, Indraja, Raja Ravindra, Shiju, Himaja, and Sithara plays supporting roles. Shatamanam Bhavati deals with the themes of "tradition-technology conflict", "joint family vs nuclear family", and "midlife crisis".

Satish Vegesna is an Indian film director and screenwriter known for his works in Telugu cinema. His film Shatamanam Bhavati received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and the state Nandi Awards for Best Direction, and Best Home Viewing Feature Film.

The SIIMA Award for Best Film – Telugu is presented by Vibri media group as part of its annual South Indian International Movie Awards for Telugu films. The award was first given in 2012 for films released in 2011.

<i>Bommarillu</i> (soundtrack) 2006 soundtrack album by Devi Sri Prasad

Bommarillu is the soundtrack album composed by Devi Sri Prasad for the 2006 Telugu-language film of the same name directed and co-written by Bhaskar in his directorial debut, and produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. The album consists of seven tracks with Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, Chandrabose, Andrea Jeremiah, Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar, Kulasekhar and Ananta Sriram penning the lyrics. The soundtrack album released on 21 June 2006 under Aditya Music label. The film stars Siddharth, Genelia, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha.
