The BFF U-18 Football League is the top level of the Bangladeshi football league system for youth players under 18 years old where youth teams of Bangladesh Premier League teams compete in. [1] Established in 2022, it is administered by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

Contents

The league replaces the BFF U-18 Football Tournament as the top tier youth football competition. [2] A total of 12 youth teams compete in a single league format. [3]

History

In September 2022, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) inaugurated the first youth football league for the teams of country’s top tier football league, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). [4] [5] The league consists of youth teams of Bangladesh Premier League sides with players under 18 years old. [6]

Format

The teams would entirely feature U-18 players. The ten teams will play nine matches against each other in a single round league format. A total of 45 matches will be played. The teams occupying league table positions 1, 2 & 3 will be awarded Champions, Runner-up & Third place prize money. The league does not have a relegation system as of the first season.

Most of the matches are played in the country's main football venue Bangabandhu National Stadium. The winners of the tournament earn a slot in the qualifying round of the AFC Cup.

The 2023–24 BFF U-16 Football League was the second edition of BFF U-16 Football Tournament. The Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) five clubs are competes in the tournament. It was played on 25 June and ended on 7 July 2024.

The 2023–24 BFF U-18 Football League was the 2nd edition of the BFF U-18 Football League, the top division of youth football in Bangladesh. Under 18 teams of 9 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clubs were participated in the league. Chittagong Abahani U-18 did not participated in the league due to internal issues.
