The BFF U-18 Football League is the top level of the Bangladeshi football league system for youth players under 18 years old where youth teams of Bangladesh Premier League teams compete in. [1] Established in 2022, it is administered by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

Contents

The league replaces the BFF U-18 Football Tournament as the top tier youth football competition. [2] A total of 12 youth teams compete in a single league format. [3]

History

In September 2022, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) inaugurated the first youth football league for the teams of country’s top tier football league, Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). [4] [5] The league consists of youth teams of Bangladesh Premier League sides with players under 18 years old. [6]

Format

The teams would entirely feature U-18 players. The ten teams will play nine matches against each other in a single round league format. A total of 45 matches will be played. The teams occupying league table positions 1, 2 & 3 will be awarded Champions, Runner-up & Third place prize money. The league does not have a relegation system as of the first season.

BFF Elite Football Academy is a Bangladeshi youth development football academy based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established in 2021, it is operated by the Bangladesh Football Federation, with the goal of developing and nurturing young Bangladeshi footballers. The academy team participates in Bangladesh Championship League, country’s second tier football league. However, they will not be subject to promotion or relegation regardless of their position in the points table of the league.

Saif Sporting Club Youth Team is the under-19 team of Bangladeshi football club Saif Sporting Club. It currently competes in the Dhaka Second Division Football League, the fourth-tier of Bangladeshi football. The team plays all their league games at the BSSS Mostafa Kamal Stadium, in Dhaka.

The under-18 team previously used to play in BFF U-18 Football Tournament.
