The Bangladesh national football team is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). It is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) since 1973 and of FIFA since 1974, even though the Bangladesh Football Federation was first founded in 1972. Bangladesh was elected as a member of the AFC Executive Committee in 1982–1986 and 1998–2002. The current Executive Committee was elected democratically, under an AFC approved constitution and direct supervision of FIFA & AFC, in October 2020.

Saif Sporting Club was an association football club based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 2016, the club competed in the Bangladesh Premier League, the top flight of Bangladeshi football, from 2017 to 2022. On 3 August 2022, the club owners announced that the club will temporarily withdraw from professional football due to insufficient commercial returns from it, days after the end of 2021–22 Bangladesh Premier League. They also finished third in the league, which is the best top tier league result of the club's history. The club played their homes games at Munshiganj Stadium in their final season.

Sanjida Akhter is a Bangladeshi women's football player, who plays as a midfielder for Bashundhara Kings Women and the Bangladesh women's national football team. She was the member of AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship – South and Central winning Bangladesh U-14 held in Nepal in 2015. She currently plays football for Bangladesh women's football team, and Bashundhara King's Women. She played all five matches at 2017 AFC U-16 Women's Championship qualification in Group C held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is a well known woman footballer in the history of Bangladesh women's football team.

The 2019 AFC Cup was the 16th edition of the AFC Cup, Asia's secondary club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Bangladeshi clubs history of playing in the AFC Cup. Muktijoddha Sangsad KC were the first side to take part since the competition started in 2004. During the 2019 AFC Cup, Dhaka Abahani became the first Bangladeshi club to reach the knockout phase of the tournament.

Currently, she is the captain of the Bangladesh women's national U19 team which won the 2018 SAFF U-18 Women's Championship.
