Samuel Aniekan, known professionally as BJ Sam, is a Nigerian born singer, writer, model, and songwriter. [1] [2] [3] BJ Sam is the first singer-songwriter to feature musical acts from all the continents of the world in one song. [4] He sings in both English and French and aims to unite people from diverse backgrounds through his music. [5] His music is characterised by its multicultural fusion of African rhythms with diverse musical influences from around the world. [6] [7] In 2017, the American film director Lloyd Kaufman personally selected his song "Mon Amour" for the soundtrack of the Hollywood movie Heart of Fartness. [8] [9] [10]
BJ Sam started music in an international classical mass choir at the age of 15, and later joined an accapella group called The Simplest Guyz in Nigeria before relocating. [3] In December 2022, BJ Sam released a universal Christmas song featuring musicians from all the continents of the world, which include Hollywood Actor Paul Raci, Bollywood playback singer Jaspinder Narula, Indo-American jazz composer and pianist Charu Suri, and Ghanaian singer Diana Hopeson. [4] [11] In 2023, in response to the Russia-Ukraine war, BJ Sam assembled 23 artists from all continents of the world to release a music video titled ‘Show some love’, asking everyone to drop their weapons and embrace peace.
