BRC Racing Team is an Italian auto racing team based in Cherasco, Italy. The team is currently competing in various racing series such as TCR International Series and Tour European Rally. The team is sponsored by BRC Gas Equipment and the team is notorious for felding rally cars converted to Liquefied petroleum gas.

History

The team was founded in 2009 and began participating in the Spanish Endurance Championship with Nissan 350Z. The team would later participate in various road and rally competitions in Spain and Italy like Suzuki Rally Trophy and Seat Léon Supercopa. BRC Racing Team has also organized the Green Scout/Hybrid Cup which later become the Italian Alternative Energies Championship from 2011 to 2015. [1]

LPG Rally Cars

BRC Racing Team entered the Italian Rally Championship in 2014 and 2015 using LPG converted Ford Fiesta R5 for Giandomenico Basso. During the course of both seasons the team registered 2 wins and 13 podiums with Basso finishing 2nd in the championship in both seasons. Basso continued with the team in 2016 in which he won 2 rallies and 4 more podiums winning the championship using conventional Fiesta R5. The other driver - Simone Campedelli - finished 4th in the standings using the LPG Fiesta R5.

For 2017 Basso and BRC Racing team entered the newly formed Tour European Rally using Hyundai i20 R5.

TCR

BRC Racing Team is also a partner of Hyundai Motorsport in the TCR International Series assisting with the development and fielding Hyundai i30 N TCR. [2] When the series became the World Touring Car Cup in 2018, they fielded 2 i30s for Norbert Michelisz and Gabriele Tarquini.

Michelisz won the drivers' title in 2019 for BRC Racing, the second time the team had won.

The 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup was the inaugural season of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). It took over from the World Touring Car Championship and adopted the TCR technical regulations. It was also the 14th overall season of the series that dates from the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The change of name and new rules follow the declining interest in the TC1 regulations used by the World Touring Car Championship between 2014 and 2017 and the growing interest among manufacturers in the TCR touring car category.

The 2019 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship will be the fourth season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to the TCR regulations. The series will run predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship will also take in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

The 2019 World Touring Car Cup was the second season of the World Touring Car Cup and 15th overall of World Touring Cars promoted by Discovery Sports Events, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship.

The 2020 World Touring Car Cup was the third season of the World Touring Car Cup and 16th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship.

The 2018 FIA WTCR Race of Hungary was the second round of the 2018 World Touring Car Cup and the first running of the FIA WTCR Race of Hungary. It was held on 28 and 29 April 2018 at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Hungary. The first and third races were won by Gabriele Tarquini and the second won by Jean-Karl Vernay.

The 2021 World Touring Car Cup was the fourth season of the World Touring Car Cup and 17th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 5 June at the Nürburgring and ended on 28 November in Sochi.

The Hyundai i30 N TCR is a racing car developed by Hyundai Motorsport, which was built according to the TCR rule system. It is based on the Hyundai i30 5-door hatchback.

The 2022 World Touring Car Cup was the fifth and final season of the World Touring Car Cup and 18th overall of the series, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The season began on 7 May at the Circuit de Pau-Ville and ended on 27 November in Jeddah Corniche Circuit, however multiple event cancellations due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and ongoing quarantine restrictions in Asia. On 1 September 2022, the organiser announced the final version of the calendar, adding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as final venues for the 2022 season.
