Badminton at the 2013 East Asian Games was held in Tianjin, China in the month of October. Participant countries included China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Macau, Mongolia and Independent Olympic Athletes. [1] Competitions for five individual disciplines as well as for Men's and Women's team competitions were conducted. [2] [3] China dominated by winning six out of seven possible gold medals while Chinese Taipei won a gold medal in Men's doubles event. [4]

Muhammad Rian Ardianto is an Indonesian badminton player. Born in Bantul, Yogyakarta SR, Ardianto plays for the Jaya Raya Jakarta club at national events. He won the men's doubles silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games, the bronze medals at the 2017 SEA Games, and at the 2019 and 2022 World Championships. Ardianto was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. He reached a career high of world number 1 in the men's doubles with Fajar Alfian on 27 December 2022.

Fajar Alfian is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with the SGS PLN Bandung. He won the men's doubles silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games, the bronze medals at the 2017 SEA Games, 2019 and 2022 World Championships. He was part of the Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. He reached a career high of world number 1 in the men's doubles with Muhammad Rian Ardianto on 27 December 2022.

Tang Yuanting is a Chinese badminton player specializing in doubles. She is a women's doubles Asian Champion and East Asian Games gold medalist. Tang was part of the China winning team in a Sudirman Cup, Uber Cup, Asia Team Championships, and an East Asian Games. She competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the women's doubles event partnered with Yu Yang, but lost to the Korean pair in the bronze medal match. She retired from the international competition at the age of 22 in September 2016.

He Bingjiao is a Chinese badminton player. She began to receive intensive badminton training at the Suzhou Junior Sports School, when she was 7 years old. Five years later, she was sent to Nanjing for studies tougher training. The junior already competed in the senior level, and made her senior international debut at the 2013 Vietnam Open. In 2014, she competed at the Summer Youth Olympics, winning a gold medal in the girls' singles and a bronze in the mixed doubles event. She also won bronze medals at the World Championships in 2018 and 2021.

Liu Yuchen is a Chinese badminton player. He was the men's doubles World Champion in 2018, two-time Asian Champion in 2017 and 2018, and also a silver medalist at the 2020 Summer Olympics partnered with Li Junhui. Liu was part of the national team that won the 2018 Asian Games, 2018 Thomas Cup, and 2019 Sudirman Cup. Together with Li, he achieved the men's doubles world number 1 in 6 April 2017, and occupied the top ranking for ten weeks.

Shi Yuqi is a Chinese badminton player. Shi won his first Superseries title in the 2016 French Open. At the 2017 All England Open, he defeated 6-time champion Lin Dan to reach the final, and repeated the same feat again at the 2018 All England Open, where he outclassed Lin Dan in the tournament final. He also won a silver medal at the 2018 World Championships.

Kenta Nishimoto is a Japanese badminton player. He won a silver medal in the men's singles at the 2017 Summer Universiade and a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Nishimoto was part of Japan winning team at the 2012 Asian Junior Championships and at the 2017 Asia Mixed Team Championships.
