Badminton competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 19 September and 28 September at GOR Bima, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 87 athletes from 17 provinces participated. [1] In this edition, athletes who can participate are limited to a maximum birth of 1991. [1]

2011 Southeast Asian Games

The 2011 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 26th Southeast Asian Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. It was Indonesia's fourth time to host the Southeast Asian Games, and its first since 1997. Previously, Indonesia also hosted in 1979 and 1987. The capital city of Jakarta hosted all three of the previous Games prior to this. Palembang became the third SEA Games non-capital host city, after Chiang Mai (1995) and Nakhon Ratchasima (2007), both in Thailand. Sport in Indonesia

Sports in Indonesia are popular from both the participation and spectating aspect. Some popular sports in Indonesia are football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and the native Indonesian martial art pencak silat. Badminton is arguably Indonesia's most successful sport. Indonesia has won gold medals in badminton in every Olympic Games since the sport was first introduced to the Olympics in 1992, with the exception of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Indonesia regularly participates in the Thomas Cup, Uber Cup, and Sudirman Cup badminton championships. Indonesia also regularly participates in regional multi-events sport, such as the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and Olympic Games. Indonesia is one of the major sport powerhouses in the Southeast Asian region, winning the Southeast Asian Games 10 times since 1977.

Indonesia at the 1952 Summer Olympics Sporting event delegation

Indonesia competed in the Summer Olympic Games for the first time at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. With three male athletes, Indonesia was one of the smallest teams competing in Helsinki. A non-participant served as flag bearer for the Indonesian delegation at the opening ceremony. The team did not win any medals. The weightlifter Thio Ging Hwie ranked eighth overall in men's lightweight, Maram Sudarmodjo ranked 20th in men's high jump, and the swimmer Habib Suharko did not advance past the preliminary round.

The National Sports Week is a multi-sport event held every four years in Indonesia. The participants of this event are the athletes from all provinces of Indonesia. It is organized by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI).

2008 Pekan Olahraga Nasional

2008 Pekan Olahraga National or the Indonesia National Games XVII were a major multi-sport event in Indonesia which took place in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, from 5–17 July 2008. A total of 7,946 athletes participated in the biggest-ever Pekan Olahraga Nasional and also the first on the island of Borneo. These games make Samarinda the second city to host Pekan Olahraga Nasional outside of the island of Java and Sumatra, after Makassar hosted the 1957 Pekan Olahraga Nasional.

2012 Pekan Olahraga Nasional

2012 Pekan Olahraga Nasional or 2012 National Sports Week was a multi-sport event in Indonesia which was held in Riau from 9–20 September 2012. The previous edition was held in East Kalimantan. Thousands of athletes, officials, and journalists all across of Indonesian provinces participated to the game.

2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional is the nineteenth edition of Pekan Olahraga Nasional. It was held in Bandung, West Java in 2016. It was be the first time for Indonesia's third largest city of Bandung to host the games in more than forty years. Bandung hosted the fifth edition of Pekan Olahraga Nasional in 1961.

Jakabaring Sport City(sic), also known as Jakabaring Sports Complex is an integrated sports facility complex in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The complex is located 5 kilometers southeast of Palembang city center, across the Musi river by the Ampera Bridge in Jakabaring, Seberang Ulu I area.

Indonesia competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom from July 27 to August 12, 2012. This was the nation's fourteenth appearance at the Olympics, having not competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the United States boycott.

2004 Pekan Olahraga Nasional

2004 Pekan Olahraga Nasional or the Pekan Olahraga Nasional XVI were a major multi-sport event in Indonesia which took place in South Sumatra, from 2 September to 14 September 2004. A total of 607 events in 41 sports were competed among more than 5,500 athletes from 30 provinces, with the newly created province of Riau Islands only as observer and did not send any athletes. The games also staged 8 paralympic sports.

Tennis competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 18 September and 27 September at Lapangan Tenis Siliwangi, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 96 athletes from 14 provinces participated.

Weightlifting competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 20 September and 23 September at GOR Gymnasium, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 75 athletes participated.

Fencing competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 23 September and 28 September at Haris Hotel, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 234 athletes competed in 12 events—six individual and six team.

Diving competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 21 September and 25 September at FPOK Swimming Pool UPI, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 34 athletes competed in 10 events—five men's events and five women's events.

Judo competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 15 September and 19 September at GOR Saparua, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 188 athletes competed in 22 events.

Gymnastics competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 20 September and 27 September at GOR Arcamanik, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 136 athletes from 22 provinces competed in 24 events.

Boxing competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 19 September and 27 September at Pelabuhan Ratu Boxing Gymnasium, Sukabumi, West Java. A total of 175 athletes competed in 16 events.

Canoeing competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 17 September and 21 September at Situ Cipule, Karawang Regency, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 219 athletes competed in 6 events which is divided into sprint and slalom numbers.

Karate competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 18 September and 21 September at Sasana Budaya Ganesha, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Bandung, West Java. A total of 199 athletes from 31 provinces competed in 17 events.
