The mixed team badminton tournament at the 2023 SEA Games was held from 8 to 10 May 2023 at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. [1] This is for the first time the mixed team event has been contested in the SEA Games. This event particularly contested for non stronger badminton nations. It is to provide an opportunity for other nations to win medals in badminton event and also introduced to help the development of badminton sport. [2]

Throughout the history of badminton events at the SEA Games, this is the first time that there has been a restriction on participation for the mixed team event. The countries affected by this restriction are Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. However, this is also the first time the mixed team event has been contested. Usually, badminton has seven gold medals in contention with two medals from the men's and women's team events, and five from the individual events. [7] [8] [9] [10]
Bambang Roedyanto, a technical official for the games, claimed that “Cambodia [wanted] the opportunity to win medals from [badminton], so [the mixed team event] was held with countries [with developing badminton teams]”. [11]
Liliyana Natsir is an Indonesian former badminton player who specialized in doubles. She is one of the standout front court player, with dexterousness and skill in controlling and executing the shuttlecock. Natsir has tremendous record over more than two decade by winning a gold and a silver from the Olympic Games, and four gold medals at the BWF World Championships. Her achievements are recognized worldwide, and was inducted in the BWF Hall of Fame in 2022.
The 2023 Southeast Asian Games, also known as the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, or the 32nd SEA Games, and commonly known as Cambodia 2023, was the 32nd edition of the Southeast Asian Games, a biennial sports multi-sport event which was held from 5 to 17 May 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Cahyaningsih is an Indonesian badminton player in women's singles. She started her career at the badminton club PB Mutiara Cardinal in Bandung, West Java, and was called to the national team in 2013. She was the girls' singles champion at the 2017 World Junior Championships. Tunjung also captained the Indonesia women's team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships, where they became champions.
Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo is an Indonesian professional badminton player. He was a World junior silver medalist in 2016 and Asian Championships bronze medalist in 2022. Dwi Wardoyo also part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.
Rinov Rivaldy is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club. He won the gold medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships, and bronze medals at the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games in the mixed doubles with Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.
Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club. He won the mixed doubles and men's team gold medals in 2023 SEA Games.
Pitha Haningtyas Mentari is an Indonesian badminton player from Jaya Raya Jakarta badminton club. She won the gold medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships, and bronze medals at the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games in the mixed doubles with Rinov Rivaldy. Mentari was also a member of the Indonesian women's team that won the silver medal in 2019 and 2021 SEA Games.
Daniel Marthin is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club since 2015. He was a champion at the 2019 Asian and World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event. Marthin was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.
Adnan Maulana is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Jaya Raya Jakarta club. He won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles at the 2021 SEA Games partnered with Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso.
Muhammad Shohibul Fikri is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with SGS PLN Bandung club.
Yeremia Erich Yotje Yacob Rambitan is an Indonesian badminton player, who also plays for Exist Jakarta in the national event. He won the mixed doubles Junior National Championships title in 2016, and the boys' doubles bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in 2017.
Bagas Maulana is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club.
Lisa Ayu Kusumawati is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club.
Christian Adinata is an Indonesian badminton player. Born in Pati, Adinata started his career at the Tangkas Intiland club. In 2021, he was selected to join the senior national team.
Alwi Farhan is an Indonesian badminton player. He was part of the Indonesia men's team squad that won gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games.
Hediana Julimarbela is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Exist Jakarta club.
The Cambodia national badminton team represents Cambodia in international badminton team competitions. It is controlled by the Cambodia Badminton Federation. Cambodia have never competed in any BWF organized team tournaments.
Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari is an Indonesian badminton player. At the 2022 Santander World Junior Championships, she won a silver in the girls' doubles and a bronze medal in the mixed team event.

The women's team badminton tournament at the 2023 SEA Games was held from 8 to 11 May 2023 at the Morodok Techo Badminton Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thailand women's team is the defending champions in this event. The team targeted to retain the title.
