Badnation is an unincorporated community in Mellette County, in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
Badnation was originally called Runningville. [1] A post office called Runningville was established in 1916, the name was changed to Badnation in 1938, and the post office closed in 1942. [2] The community takes its present name from Bad Nation Township. [3]
Mellette County is a county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 2,048. Its county seat is White River. The county was created in 1909, and was organized in 1911. It was named for Arthur C. Mellette, the last Governor of the Dakota Territory and the first Governor of the state of South Dakota.
