Bakken Bears is a Danish professional basketball club based in Aarhus. The club plays in the Basketligaen, the top tier basketball league in Denmark.
Founded in 1953, the club has won the Basketligaen 20 times and holds the record for the most championships and has won 11 Danish Cups. Along with their domestic play, the club is a regular in European competitions. The Bears are a three-time semifinalist of the FIBA Europe Cup.
Bakken Bears was formed in 1953 under the name of Aarhus Basketball Forening, or simply ABF. From 1962, the club was known as Skovbakken Basketball. Bears has been in the top Danish league almost every year since then and won its first title in 1958. Since then, the club has won a number of domestic titles and is now the most winning sports team in the history of the city of Aarhus.
In the years 2005 to 2009, Bakken Bears was a part of Aarhus Elite A/S, an elite sports organization in Aarhus that includes ia. AGF Football (soccer). In the last months of 2009 a group of local businessmen, sponsors and fans bought the team.
When Bakken Bears hosted Team FOG Næstved in Game 1 of the league semifinals in March 2009, 4,816 spectators watched the game in Aarhus Arena, which set an all-time attendance record for basketball in Denmark.
In the summer of 2018, the Bears' development team EBAA entered the Basketligaen as well.
On 27 March 2018, Bakken Bears qualified for the first time ever for a semifinal of a European competition, by eliminating ESSM Le Portel in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Europe Cup. [1]

The Basketligaen is the highest professional basketball league in Denmark. The original men's first division was founded in 1957 and the current league was founded in 1998. All-time record holder in league titles is Bakken Bears, which has captured 18 titles in its history. BMS is the only team with 5 titles in a row, starting in 1986 through 1990. The main TV partner of the league is Sport Live. The league consists of 11 teams, with no relegation rules.
Chris Christoffersen is a retired Danish professional basketball player. He played the majority of his career with Bakken Bears of the Danish Basketligaen. He is a ten-time Danish League champion, having been a stalwart with Bakken in 14 seasons. He has also had stints in Italy, the NBA Development League, Finland, Sweden and Australia.
Vejlby-Risskov Idrætscenter is a sports complex located in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the largest of its kind in East Jutland. The complex is situated in the district of Vejlby-Risskov in the northern part of Aarhus. Skyler Bowlin is an American professional basketball player for the Bakken Bears of the Danish Basketligaen. Bowlin plays at both the point guard and shooting guard positions.
DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell is a Trinidadian-American professional basketball player for UNICS Kazan of the VTB United League. He played college basketball for Eastern Oklahoma State and Illinois State. Standing at 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m), he usually plays the small forward position.
The 2017–18 FIBA Europe Cup was the third season of the FIBA Europe Cup, a European professional basketball competition for clubs that was launched by FIBA. The competition began on 20 September 2017, with the qualifying rounds, and concluded with the second leg of the final on 2 May 2018. Umana Reyer Venezia won its first European competition, after defeating Sidigas Scandone in the all-Italian Finals.
2017–18 FIBA Europe Cup play-offs will begin on 7 March and conclude on 25 April and 2 May 2018 with the 2018 FIBA Europe Cup Finals, to decide the champions of the 2017–18 FIBA Europe Cup. A total of 16 teams will compete in the play-offs.
