The Basketligaen (English: The Basketball League) is the highest professional basketball league in Denmark. The original men's first division was founded in 1957 and the current league was founded in 1998. All-time record holder in league titles is Bakken Bears, which has captured 18 titles in its history. BMS is the only team with 5 titles in a row, starting in 1986 through 1990. The main TV partner of the league is Sport Live. The league consists of 11 teams, with no relegation rules.

Geoffry Claude Kotila was an American basketball coach and player. He played college basketball for Michigan Tech before going into coaching.

Chris Christoffersen is a retired Danish professional basketball player. He played the majority of his career with Bakken Bears of the Danish Basketligaen. He is a ten-time Danish League champion, having been a stalwart with Bakken in 14 seasons. He has also had stints in Italy, the NBA Development League, Finland, Sweden and Australia.

Ryan Evans is an American professional basketball player for Bakken Bears of Denmark's Basketligaen. Standing at 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) and weighing 218 lb (99 kg), Evans usually plays at small forward. He played college basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers.

The 2015–16 Basketligaen was the 41st season of the highest professional basketball tier in Denmark. The season started on October 3, 2015 and ended on May 9, 2016. Horsens IC won the Danish championship for the second year in a row, after it defeated Bakken Bears in the Finals.

The 2016–17 Basketligaen was the 42nd season of the highest professional basketball tier in Denmark. The season started on September 30, 2016 and ended on May 8, 2017. Bakken Bears won its 15th title after defeating Horsens IC 4–1 in the Finals.

The 2017–18 Basketligaen was the 43rd season of the highest professional basketball tier in Denmark. The season started on 20 September 2017 and ended on 7 May 2018. Bakken Bears was the defending champion, and won the championship again after beating Horsens IC in the play-off finals.

The Basketligaen Finals Most Valuable Player is an annual basketball award that is given by the Danish top tier Basketligaen. It is awarded to the player who was considered to be the best in a finals series of a Basketligaen season.

Jeffrey "Jaye" Crockett is an American professional basketball player who last played for Akita Northern Happinets of the B.League. He played college basketball for Texas Tech before playing professionally in Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Lebanon, Australia and Greece.

The 2019–20 Basketligaen is the 45th season of the highest professional basketball tier in Denmark. The season started on 22 September 2019 and was scheduled to end on 13 May 2020. On 17 March 2020, the season was ended prematurely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the standings at that time, the Bakken Bears were named Danish champions, defending its title.

Tylor Ongwae is a Kenyan basketball player for the Niners Chemnitz and the Kenya national team. He has known his most successful years in Denmark with Bakken Bears, with whom he won three straight Basketligaen titles and was named Defensive Player of the Year twice.

He played college basketball for Wright State University and Barry University. In 2021, he won the Basketligaen championship with Bakken Bears and in 2022 he was named the Úrvalsdeild Foreign Player of the Year while playing for Þór Þorlákshöfn.

David Efianayi is an American basketball player who plays guard for Petkim Spor of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). He played college basketball at Gardner-Webb University.
