The Kvindebasketligaen is the premier championship for women's basketball clubs in Denmark. It was created in 1971, and it is currently contested by eight teams. It was known as Dameligaen until 2021-2022 season. [1] The champion qualifies for the next season's FIBA Eurocup. SISU Copenhague is the championship's most successful club with 20 titles, followed by Hørsholm 79ers with 9 titles. [2]

2. deild karla or D2 is the third-tier basketball competition among clubs in Iceland. It is organized by the Icelandic Basketball Federation . It consists of 11 teams and the season consists of a home-and-away schedule of 20 games. The top four non-reserve teams meet in a playoff for the victory in the league and promotion to 1. deild karla.

The Tindastóll men's basketball team, commonly known as Tindastóll, is the men's basketball department of the Ungmennafélagið Tindastóll sport club. It is based in Sauðárkrókur, Iceland. As of the 2018–19 season it played in Úrvalsdeild karla. In 2015 and 2018, it was the runner up to the Icelandic national championship. On January 13, 2018, the club won its first major title when it beat KR in the Icelandic Basketball Cup finals. On 30 September 2018, Tindastóll defeated KR in the Icelandic Super Cup, 103-72.

Kristófer Acox is an Icelandic basketball player for Valur of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team, with whom he participated in the EuroBasket 2017. As a member of KR, he won the Icelandic championship three times in a row from 2017 to 2019. In 2022, he added his fourth championship, this time with Valur and in 2023, he won the Icelandic Cup for the first time.

Helena Sverrisdóttir is an Icelandic former basketball player. Generally considered the greatest Icelandic female basketball player of all time, she was named the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year 12 times. During her playing career, she won the Icelandic championship five times and the Slovak championship two times.

Elvar Már Friðriksson is an Icelandic professional basketball player for PAOK Thessaloniki of the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. He is also a member of the Icelandic national basketball team. He has twice been named to the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First team as a member of Njarðvík. In 2020, he won the Swedish championship with Borås Basket. In 2021, he was named the Lithuanian Basketball League MVP after leading the league in assists. He has been named the Icelandic Male Basketball Player of the Year three times in a row from 2021 to 2023.

Hrannar Hólm is an Icelandic former basketball coach. He was the head coach of the Danish women's national basketball team from 2014 to 2017. From 2011 to 2014, he led SISU BK to four straight Dameligaen championships.

The Breiðablik women's basketball team, commonly known as Breiðablik, is the women's basketball department of the Breiðablik multi-sport club. It is based in Kópavogur, Iceland. As of 2018–2019 season its plays in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna.

Þóra Kristín Jónsdóttir is an Icelandic basketball player who plays the point guard position for Haukar in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna and the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship with Haukar in 2018 while also being named to the Úrvalsdeild Domestic All-First Team and finishing third in the selection of the Icelandic Women's Basketball Player of the Year. She won the Danish championship ind 2022 and 2023 and the Danish Cup in 2022 with AKS Falcon.

Emilie Sofie Hesseldal is a Danish professional basketball player and a member of the Danish national basketball team. She won the Danish championship in 2021 as a member of BMS Herlev Wolfpack and in 2022 as a member of AKS Falcon, being named the Finals MVP both years. During her career, she has won both the Danish Cup, in 2010 with Aabyhøj IF and 2022 with AKS Falcon, and the Icelandic Cup, in 2020 with Skallagrímur.

The Hamar women's basketball team, commonly known as Hamar, is the women's basketball department of Íþróttafélagið Hamar, based in the town of Hveragerði, Iceland.

Hjálmar Stefánsson is an Icelandic basketball player for Valur of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team. In 2022, he won his first Icelandic championship. In 2023, he was named the Úrvalsdeild Defensive Player of the Year.

The 2021–22 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 65th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland. The season started on 6 October 2021 and concluded on 1 May 2022 with Njarðvík after beating Haukar in the Úrvalsdeild finals, 3–2.

AKS Falcon are a Danish women's basketball team. It is a collaboration between Ajax Copenhagen Sports Gymnasium (AKS) and Falcon Basketball and was founded in 2021. The team won the Danish championship in 2022 and 2023, and the Danish Women's Basketball Cup in 2022.

The 2023–24 Úrvalsdeild kvenna is the 67th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland.
