Indian National Basketball Championship for Women is a professional basketball tournament in India for women. This tournament is held by the Basketball Federation of India. The 61st Championship was held in New Delhi in 2011. [1] [ needs update ] 23 states teams participated in this tournament.

History

At the 2019 event, Indian Railways team staved off Kerala 68-55. [2] Led by the new national team player Shireen Limaye, Railways won their third straight title. Madhya Pradesh also secured a rare podium finish by beating Punjab in the bronze medal game. [2]

In the semifinals, Kerala ousted Punjab 73-62 while Railways absolutely decimated Madhya Pradesh 106-37 to reach the finals. [2]

Santosh Trophy Association football tournament in India

The Senior National Football Championship or Santosh Trophy is a football knock-out competition contested by the regional state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Before the starting of the first national club league, the National Football League in 1996, the Santosh Trophy was considered the top domestic honour in India. Many players who have represented India internationally, played and gained honour while playing in the Santosh Trophy. The tournament is held every year with 37 teams, who are divided into five zones, must play in the qualifying round and progress into the tournament proper. The current champions are Services, who won their sixth title during the 2018–2019 edition.

Divya Singh

Divya Singh is former captain of the Indian National Women's Basketball Team. Singh led the Indian women's basketball team at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. She is known for her game skills, leadership qualities, academic strength and personality. She has done sports management at the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, (UD) in the year 2008 to 2010 and worked as a Women's basketball assistant coach for UD. She was assistant coach of the Under 16 Indian Men's basketball team which participated in Vietnam 2011. She was the assistant coach of the Indian Men's team when India won the bronze medal in Lusophony Games in Goa. She was also a part of the Indian National Women's Basketball Team as an assistant coach in the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014.

Handball Federation of India Administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in the Republic of India

Handball Federation of India, Rohtak (HFI) is the governing body for handball in India. HFI is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 at Rohtak. HFI is a member of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 1974. It is also a member of Commonwealth Handball Association and South Asian Handball Federation. HFI was founded by Jagat Singh Lohan, a Jat from Rohtak (Haryana) who was an alumnus of YMCA College of Physical Education of Madras. He was also the first secretary general of HFI.

2020 National Games of India

The 2020 National Games of India, also known as Goa 2020, were to be held between 20 October and 4 November 2020 in Goa, India. In May 2020, it was announced that games will postponed as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic and new dates have yet to be established. These games will be the 36th edition and will host 37 sporting disciplines.

State football leagues in India

State football leagues in India represent the top-state and overally in most cases level four of Indian football league system. There are currently a total of 37 state associations affiliated with the national governing body, the All India Football Federation. Most of the state associations organise and have own affiliated football competitions in their respective states. The state leagues operate as a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League Qualifiers, Indian Women's League and Futsal Club Championship. Clubs of top national leagues also participate in their respective state leagues, most often with youth or reserve teams.

The 2019–20 Senior Women's National Football Championship, also known as Hero Senior Women's National Football Championship for sponsorship reasons, was the 25th edition of the Senior Women's National Football Championship, the premier competition in India for women's teams representing regional and state football associations. The tournament was hosted in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, between 10 and 24 September 2019 at the Indira Gandhi Golden High School, Kiyit Secondary School and Daying Ering Football Stadium, Nari.

The 2021–22 Senior Women's National Football Championship, also known as Hero Senior Women's National Football Championship for sponsorship reasons, was the 26th edition of the Senior Women's National Football Championship, the premier competition in India for women's teams representing regional and state football associations. The tournament was hosted in Kerala, between 28 November and 9 December 2021.
