The Liga Superior de Baloncesto (LSB) (English: Superior Basketball League) is the highest level men's professional basketball league in Cuba. The LSB has been active for twenty-eight years, interrupted only three times, once in 2011, 2014, and in 2020.

Post Season Structure

During the regular season, 60-160 games are played within the two months of league activity. The top four teams with the most wins are entered into the post season semifinals. The two respective winners from the semifinals advance to the finals, and whoever wins in the finals is crowned the champion. The semifinals and finals are played to best of five, with no draws allowed.

Coccothrinax spirituana is a fan palm which is palm endemic to central Cuba. Populations have been found in Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila provinces. Its leaves are ash-grey in colour on their upper and lower surfaces, a characteristic which is not found in other members of the genus. The species was described in 2017. Specimens of the palm were collected in Sancti Spíritus Province in 1975 and 1995.

The 2023 Cuban National Series was the 62nd season of the league. No longer playing a winter league schedule, the regular season began on 29 March and ended on 3 July. In the series' final playoff round, contested in August, Las Tunas defeated Industriales in a four-game sweep. It was Las Tunas second league championship, having previously won in 2018–19.
