Basketettan is the third tier league of professional basketball in Sweden. Until 2017, it was the second-tier league before it was replaced by Superettan. The winner of each Basketettan season is promoted to Superettan.
From 2013, Basketettan was played during Swedish fall with the best teams qualifying for Superettan in the spring. [1] This format lasted until 2017 and since the 2017–18 season, it is the third tier with a ten-team all-season Superettan above as a second tier. [2]
Superettan (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈsʉ̂ːpɛrˌɛtːan]; meaning the super first (division)) is an association football league and the second highest league in the league system of Swedish men's football. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Allsvenskan and Division 1. Seasons run from April to October, with teams playing 30 matches each, totalling 240 matches in the season.
Athletic Football Club Eskilstuna, also known as AFC Eskilstuna or simply AFC, is a Swedish football club located in Eskilstuna. The club has previously been known under the names FC Café Opera and Väsby United before switching ownership and their identity again in 2012 to AFC United. During the 2016 season it was once again decided that they would switch their name, identity, as well as locality. Choosing to move to Eskilstuna, about 110 kilometers west of Stockholm, they are since known as AFC Eskilstuna. They compete in Superettan, the second highest tier of Swedish football, and play their home matches at Tunavallen. AFC Eskilstuna are affiliated to Södermanlands Fotbollförbund.
Ettan Fotboll, or simply Ettan, which also is its common name in everyday speech, is the third level in the Swedish football league system and consists of 32 Swedish football teams. It was formerly simply known as Division 1. Division 1 was the second tier from 1987 to 1999, but was replaced by Superettan in 2000. It was reestablished for the 2006 season as the third tier below Superettan.
Östersunds Fotbollsklubb, commonly known simply as Östersunds FK, Östersund or ÖFK, is a Swedish professional football club located in Östersund, Sweden, that plays in the Swedish second tier, Superettan. The club was formed in 1996 as a merger of several Östersund clubs. The club is affiliated with the Jämtland-Härjedalens Fotbollförbund and play their home games at Jämtkraft Arena. The club colours, reflected in their crest and kit, are red and black, predominantly in stripes and with red shorts and socks.

Köping Basket, also known as The Köping Stars, is a basketball club based in Köping, Sweden. The club was founded in 2003, but changed its name for the men's team to Köping Stars in January 2018. The club plays its home games in the Karlbergshallen. Since the 2018–19 season, Stars plays in the Basketligan, the highest tier of basketball in Sweden.
The 2019–20 Swedish Basketball League season, formerly known as Basketligan, was the 27th season of the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 25 September 2019 and ended prematurely on 13 March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Södertälje Kings are the defending champions.

Superettan is the second-tier league of men's professional basketball in Sweden. The league was established in 2017 and replaced the Basketettan as the second level. Köping Stars was the inaugural champion. The winners of Superettan are promoted to Basketligan. As of the 2021-22 season there will be a playoffs after the end of the regular season. For the seasons prior, the winner of the regular season was crowned superettan champion.
During the 2020-21 Season the Men's team played in Basketettan Södra and the Women's team played in Basketligan dam.
The 2022–23 Superettan season is the 6th season of Superettan (SEH), the second tier basketball league in Sweden. Uppsala Basket were the winners of both the regular season and the playoffs in the previous year. Both Uppsala and Kalmar decided to take the step up to the Swedish Basketball League after last season, allowing for four new teams to be promoted from Basketettan. The new teams were Eskilstuna, Huddinge, Sloga Uppsala, and Tureberg.
