The Kamuku are an ethnic group in central Nigeria. The Kamuku language belongs to the Kainji family and is related to C'lela, Duka, and Kambari. They mainly live in the west-central region of Nigeria, particularly in Kwara State. Their population in 1996 exceeded 35,000 people, found in the Sokoto division of Sokoto State, the Birnin Gwari division of Kaduna State and the Kontagora and Minna divisions of Niger State.
Christianity is the second major population in Niger State Nigeria, where Sharia is valid. Nine churches in Kontagora were set ablaze in 2006. Churches in Minna and Gwada have been burned, too. Faith Mission Church is present in the state. A Roman Catholic Diocese of Minna has its seat in the state and decidedly is a minority within its area. Evangelical Church Winning All is present in Madalla. The Evangelical Missionary Society used to be active in the area of Niger State.
Confluence Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Lokoja, Kogi State with a 25,000 seating capacity. It is the home ground of Kogi United and Confluence Queens in the Nigeria National League and Nigeria Women Premier League respectively. It was used as a temporary venue for the home games of Niger Tornadoes during the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League. The Tornadoes permanent home stadium, however, remains Bako Kontagora Stadium.

Alhaji Saidu Umaru Namaska Dan Malam was a Nigerian traditional ruler of the Kontagora Emirate with the title Sarkin Sudan. His father Umaru Sarkin Kudu was the son of Mallam Umaru Nagwamatse, the founder of the Kontagora Emirate and a prince from Sokoto. He died on September 9, 2021, from a brief illness in National Hospital Abuja.

The 2023 Niger State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Niger State, concurrent with elections to the Niger State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Abubakar Sani Bello was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Mohammed Umar Bago — House of Representatives member for Chanchaga — retained the office for the APC by a margin of 9.4% over former commissioner Isah Liman Kantigi, the PDP nominee.
