On 16 January 2015 Badrodin was appointed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo to be the Acting Chief of Indonesian National Police replacing Sutarman, who officially retired from the service and awaiting for elected Police Chief Police-Commissioner General Budi Gunawan who was a suspect on a corruption case. On 16 April 2015, he was confirmed unanimously by Indonesian House of Representatives and sworn in by President Joko Widodo on 17 April 2015. He was replaced by Police-General Tito Karnavian.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is a 122-meter tall statue located in Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali, Indonesia. It was designed by Nyoman Nuarta and inaugurated in September 2018. The total height of the monument, including the 46-meter base pedestal is 122 m (400 ft). The statue was designed to be Indonesia’s tallest statue, and is inspired by an event that finds its roots in Hinduism about Garuda's search for Amrita, the elixir of life. According to this story, Garuda agreed to be ridden by Vishnu in return for the right to use the elixir to liberate his enslaved mother. The monument was completed on 31 July 2018 and inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo on 22 September 2018. It is the tallest statue of a Hindu deity and the tallest statue in Indonesia.

Originally a new agency attached to the Ministry of Research and Technology, which became the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency, the agency was controversially separated and established as a new non-ministerial government agency directly under the President of Indonesia on 28 April 2021. On 24 August 2021, the agency gained cabinet-level status through enactment of Presidential Decree No. 78/2021. Under the new presidential regulation, the agency became the sole national research agency of Indonesia.
