Bandits is a Flemish teen Pop rock band, current members are lead vocalist Jasper Publie (1996), drummer Toon Smet (1997), guitarist Tim Tielemans (1998) and bassist Thomas Van Achteren (1995). Jasper Publie's father, Jan Publie, and Toon Smet's father are roadies of the band.
The band Bandits has emerged from the band Gizonband (guitar without notes). Publie, Tielemans and Van Achteren already knew each other from the guitar school. When Jasper Publie participated in the Belgian pre-selections for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, he met Toon Smet.
The band was active from 2007 until the name change in 2011. The Gizonband has played at Maanrock 2010 on the mainstage. The new name was meant as a wordplay on 'band', initially they wanted to call it Bandit, but there already existed a band with that name. Their target audience are teens; female fans call themselves Bandita's, the boys Bandito's.
The Bandits performed several shows in Belgium in 2011. The first major event which they participated was Pennenzakkenrock. [1] A reality show that went by the same name about the Bandits aired on VTMKZOOM. [2] Meanwhile, they released three singles: Stop!, [3] Tweelingzus [4] and 't Kan niet op. On November 23, their first album Bandits was released at the theater Theadrôme in Wilrijk. [5] They were also a guest on Ketnet King Size (November 27) and Jim (December 21).
In 2012 Bandits was one of the bands that received a dedicated episode in the quiz show I-fans on Ketnet. At January 18 the band received an Anne Award in the category "beste kids pop". [6] On January 21, the band was again invited, without bassist Van Achteren due to illness, for Ketnet King Size. They revealed that they made an amateur film in the summer break between festivals. In November 2012 also participated in the first edition of the program VTMKZOOM Pop.
On April 19, Bandits performed at the Sportpaleis during Nekka-Nacht, with the implementation of Iedereen is van de wereld by the Dutch band The Scene along with Thé Lau. The single Time Bomb scored in Thailand and hit the iTunes playlist. On July 4, Publie was a guest at the music station Channel V. This was at the beginning of the journey through Thailand of the Publie family.
During the summer the band could be seen at numerous festivals in Belgium, including Gentse Feesten, Marktrock and for a first time in the Netherlands. At the end of 2013, on November 1, Bandits have given a private concert at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp. On the same day Bandits & Friends was also presented, their new CD.
In the spring of 2014 Bandits took part in the Belgian Eurosong 2014, the nationwide preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. On February 16, they placed themselves, with the most votes during the callback, for the semi-finals. Here they finished second, which gave them the right to participate in the finals. In the grand finale, they were also the second, after Axel Hirsoux.
At June 24 there was a releaseparty for their new album, called Geval Apart.

X!NK ( ) is a Belgian pop punk band. The band consisted of two pairs of brothers: Jonas and Niels Meukens, and Thomas and Philip Valkiers. Jonas was the lead singer and occasionally the second guitarist, his brother Niels was the drummer. Philip played the bass guitar and Thomas played the guitar and also occasionally the keyboard. X!NK gained mainstream success after becoming Belgium's submission for the 2003 Junior Eurovision Song Contest where they took sixth place. The band was also the subject of a series of comic books by Mario Boon. The band is planning on making a comeback with a new song and four concerts in 2023.
Clouseau is a Belgian pop group, having success in Belgium and the Netherlands since being established in the late 1980s. Apart from a brush with English material in the early 1990s they perform in Dutch. Their biggest hits are "Daar gaat ze" and "Passie".
Belgium has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 64 times since making its debut as one of seven countries at the first contest in 1956. The only countries with the same number or more appearances are Germany (66), France (65) and the United Kingdom (65). Belgium have been absent only three times in total, in 1994, 1997 and 2001, due to low scores in the previous contests that relegated them from the contest. Belgium has won the contest once, in 1986.
Belgium competed in every Junior Eurovision Song Contest before withdrawing 2013. The country's best result was in 2009, when Laura Omloop came 4th with "Zo verliefd". Belgium's worst result was in 2007, with Trust coming 15th with "Anders".
Ketnet is a Dutch-language public children's television channel in Belgium owned and operated by the VRT, Flemish public broadcaster. It broadcasts a mix of locally produced and imported productions on the VRT3 channel from 6 am until 8 pm.
The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Without You" written by Ed van Otterdijk and Angeline van Otterdijk. The song was performed by the duo Re-union. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) organised the national final Nationaal Songfestival 2004 in collaboration with broadcaster Televisie Radio Omroep Stichting (TROS) in order to select the Dutch entry for the 2004 contest in Istanbul, Turkey. 24 entries competed in the national final which consisted of six shows: four semi-finals, a wildcard round and a final. Ten entries qualified from to compete in the final on 22 February 2004 where "Without You" performed by Re-union was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public vote.
Jan Smit is a Dutch singer, television host, and actor. Smit mostly sings songs in the Dutch language, in a genre known as palingsound. In addition to his solo career, in 2015 Smit joined the schlager trio KLUBBB3, and in 2017 The Toppers. As a TV presenter, he has worked on programs like the Beste Zangers and Sterren Muziekfeest op het Plein Since 1999, Smit has been serving as an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages.
Thor Salden, better known as Thor!, is a former child singer. Salden rose to fame in 2006, being the Belgian contestant at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Een tocht door het donker". The song topped the Flemish Ultratop charts for one week. Salden withdrew from the stage at the age of 11.
The Hearts of Soul, also known as Dream Express and LBS, were a Dutch-Belgian musical group that originally consisted of the Indonesian-born Dutch sisters Bianca, Patricia and Stella Maessen. Belgian singer and composer Luc Smets joined the group in 1975. The group is known for representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 and Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977.
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "O Julissi" written by Michel Vangheluwe. The song was performed by the band Ishtar. The Belgian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia was selected through the national final Eurosong '08, organised by the Flemish broadcaster Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT). The competition featured twenty competing entries and consisted of seven shows. In the final on 9 March 2008, "O Julissi Na Jalini" performed by Ishtar was selected as the winner via a public televote. The song was later retitled as "O Julissi".

Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Copycat" written by Benjamin Schoos and Jacques Duvall. The song was performed by the group Copycat, which was internally selected by the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) in February 2009 to represent the nation at the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The song, "Copycat", was presented to the public on 10 March 2009.
Hakol Over Habibi was an Israeli musical band which represented their country in Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the song "Halayla". The band consisted of: Shlomit Aharon, Kiki Rothstein, Yuval Dor and Ami Mandelman. They had originally been offered the song "Hallelujah" as a potential Eurovision entry in 1978 but turned it down. The song went on to represent Israel in 1979 but was performed by Milk and Honey winning that year's contest.
Stella Maessen is a Dutch singer, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1970, 1977 and 1982.
Tom Eeckhout, known professionally as Tom Dice, is a Belgian singer-songwriter. He finished runner-up in the Flemish version of The X Factor in 2008 using his birth name Tom Eeckhout, but soon after changed his name taking the stage name Tom Dice.
Dorians is an Armenian rock band founded in June 2008 by Vahagn Gevorgyan. In February 2009 the band participated at the first qualifying round of the international Eurovision Song Contest, which brought popularity to the band.
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Wake Up" written by Eliot Vassamillet and Pierre Dumoulin. The song was performed by Eliot, which is the artistic name of singer Eliot Vassamillet who was internally selected by the Walloon broadcaster Radio Télévision Belge de la Communauté Française (RTBF) in January 2019 to represent the nation at the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. The song, "Wake Up", was presented to the public on 28 February 2019.

The song was performed by the band Hooverphonic, which was internally selected by the Flemish broadcaster Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT) in October 2019 to represent the nation at the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The song, "Release Me", was presented to the public on 17 February 2020.

The song, "The Wrong Place", was presented to the public on 4 March 2021.

The Belgian entry for the 2023 contest was selected through the national final Eurosong 2023, organised by the Flemish broadcaster Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT). The competition featured seven competing acts and consisted of five songclub shows and a final. In the final on 14 January 2023, "Because of You" performed by Gustaph was selected as the winner via the votes of a fifteen-member jury panel and a public vote.
