Bangalaia thomensis is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. [1] [2] It was described by Stephan von Breuning in 1947. It is known from São Tomé and Cameroon. [3]
Beetles are a group of insects that form the order Coleoptera, in the superorder Endopterygota. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects. The Coleoptera, with about 400,000 species, is the largest of all orders, constituting almost 40% of described insects and 25% of all known animal life-forms; new species are discovered frequently. The largest of all families, the Curculionidae (weevils) with some 70,000 member species, belongs to this order. Found in almost every habitat except the sea and the polar regions, they interact with their ecosystems in several ways: beetles often feed on plants and fungi, break down animal and plant debris, and eat other invertebrates. Some species are serious agricultural pests, such as the Colorado potato beetle, while others such as Coccinellidae eat aphids, scale insects, thrips, and other plant-sucking insects that damage crops.
Stephan von Breuning was an Austrian entomologist who specialised in Coleoptera, particularly Cerambycidae.
São Tomé Island, at 854 km2 (330 sq mi), is the largest island of São Tomé and Príncipe and is home to about 157,000 or 96% of the nation's population. The island is divided into six districts. It is located 2 km north of the equator.
The São Tomé shrew is a white-toothed shrew about 3.0 in (7.6 cm) long found only on São Tomé Island, São Tomé and Príncipe. It is listed as a critically endangered species due to habitat loss and a restricted range. It was discovered in 1886. The population continues to decrease, making these animals rare. It is found only on São Tomé Island, a small island that is actually a shield volcano that rises out of the Atlantic Ocean.
Monochamus is a genus of longhorn beetles found throughout the world. They are commonly known as sawyer beetles or sawyers, as their larvae bore into dead or dying trees, especially conifers such as pines. They are the type genus of the Monochamini, a tribe in the huge long-horned beetle subfamily Lamiinae, but typically included in the Lamiini today.
The São Tomé spinetail is a species of swift in the family Apodidae. It is endemic to São Tomé and Príncipe. The species was described by Ernst Hartert on 1900.
The giant sunbird is a species of bird in the family Nectariniidae. It is the only species in the genus Dreptes. It is endemic to the island of São Tomé, where it occurs in the central massif.
Disparctia thomensis is a moth species of the family Erebidae. It was described by Joicey and Talbot in 1926. It is found on São Tomé Island.
Prosopocerini is a tribe of longhorn beetles of the Lamiinae subfamily. It was described by Thomson in 1868.

Bangalaia fulvosignata is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae, and the type species of its genus. It was described by Quedenfeldt in 1882, originally under the genus Sternotomis. It is known from Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, and the Republic of the Congo.
Pterolophia thomensis is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Stephan von Breuning in 1938.
