B. R. Latha, popularly known as Bangalore Latha, was an Indian singer who worked in south Indian film industry, mainly in Kannada and Telugu. [1] [2] [3]
Latha was noticed by music composer G. K. Venkatesh at an event in Purabhavan, Bangalore and he introduced her to films through the movie Kantheredu Nodu in 1961. [4] Next she recorded a song for the 1962 film Mahathma Kabir, starring Dr. Rajkumar and Krishna Kumari in lead role. [5] She went on to record songs in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Tulu.
Latha recorded her duets with P. B. Srinivas, [1] Mohammad Rafi, Ghantasala, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, [6] M. Balamurali Krishna, Dr. Rajkumar, S. Janaki, Vani Jairam, P. Susheela, L. R. Eswari B. K. Sumitra, B. R. Chaya and some rare duets with Musuri Krishnamurthy, Shankar Nag and Vishnuvardhan. [7]
Latha was born and raised in Bangalore. She was trained in music by Chintanapalli Krishnamurthy. [4] She married actor Tomato Somu. [6] Latha committed suicide by taking sleeping pills on March 26 in the year 1990. [8]

Sampath Kumar, known by his stage name Vishnuvardhan, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Kannada cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam language films. Vishnuvardhan has a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 220 films. A popular cultural icon of Karnataka, and holds the status of a matinée idol among the Kannada diaspora. He is popularly called as Sahasa Simha, Dada and The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema. Vishnuvardhan's contributions to Kannada cinema have been praised by his contemporaries in the Indian film industry. The Government of Karnataka honoured him with the Rajyothsava Prashasthi in 1990 and the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his contributions to Kannada cinema. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. In 2008, a poll conducted by CNN-IBN listed Vishnuvardhan as the most popular star in the Kannada film industry.
Gangaraju, professionally known as Hamsalekha, is an Indian film composer and songwriter who works in South Indian cinema, predominantly in the Kannada film industry since the late 1980s. He is also a screenplay writer, dialogue writer, instrumentalist and conductor, having composed and written over 500 albums.

Nartanasala is a 1963 Indian Telugu-language Hindu mythological film directed by Kamalakara Kameswara Rao and written by Samudrala Sr. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Savitri, S. V. Rajan–Nagendra were an Indian musical duo who were prominent composers of film music in Kannada and Telugu cinema from the late 1950s to the early 1990s. Rajan, along with his brother Nagendra, created a niche for themselves for nearly four decades. The duo scored music for about 375 films, over 200 of them in Kannada and the remainder in other languages like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu, Hindi and Sinhala. They composed innumerable hits, hundreds of melodious tunes in their career spanning four decades. They also hold the record for the longest active musical pair in the industry.
Vijaya Bhaskar was an Indian music director and composer who composed music for several mainstream and experimental feature films in the Kannada film industry. Scoring music for over 720 films, Bhaskar worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Tulu and Konkani language films as well. He was a part of all films of director KSL Swamy (Ravi) and also shared a great association with acclaimed directors Puttanna Kanagal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

M. S. Rajashekar was an Indian Kannada film director based in Bangalore. He made his directorial debut with Dhruva Thare starring Rajkumar which earned the Karnataka State Award for Second Best Film. His second movie Anuraga Aralithu was remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. He went on to make successful films like Ratha Sapthami and Nanjundi Kalyana.

Nanna Thamma is a 1970 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by K. Babu Rao and produced by K. V. Guptha. The film stars Rajkumar, Jayanthi, Gangadhar and R. Nagendra Rao. The film has musical score by Ghantasala. The film is a remake of the director's own 1969 Telugu movie Jarigina Katha. Ghantasala retained the Telugu song Bhale Manchi Roju in the Kannada version as Ide Hosa Haadu. The film was not a huge success at the box office.

Venkatesh. This was the first Kannada movie to adapt already written Kannada poems into movie songs. The movie was remade from the 1952 Telugu movie Daasi with few modifications in the plotline.
