Rebecca Quinn Morgan (born December 4,1938) is a former Republican California State Senator.
Born in Hanover,New Hampshire, [1] Morgan earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1960. [2]
Morgan was a teacher from 1960 to 1962. [3] Serving as the district office manager for Congressman Pete McCloskey in 1972,she served as an elected member of the Palo Alto Unified School District Board of Education from 1973 to 1978. After Morgan earned her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1978. [4]
Morgan became an assistant vice president at Bank of America. [1] She left Bank of America in 1980 when she was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. [1]
After one term on the Board of Supervisors,Morgan was elected to the California State Senate in 1984 to represent the 11th District and re-elected in 1988 and 1992. [1] During her tenure in the Senate,she was Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Child Care and Development and Vice Chair of several other Senate committees. [4] She was also a member of the Education;Budget and Fiscal Review;Transportation,Energy and Public Utilities;and Revenue and Taxation Committees in the Senate. [2] In 1986,when Southern Pacific sought to withdraw from managing the Caltrain commuter rail system and consequently,shutting the system down,Morgan wrote the legislation that created the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board to save the Caltrain by enabling the new board to run the system. [5]
She resigned from the Senate effective August 17,1993,to become President and CEO of Joint Venture:Silicon Valley Network, [1] a nonprofit organization composed of business,government,and education groups seeking to improve the Silicon Valley region's economic growth and quality of life the following the early 1990s recession. [6] Later that year,she co-founded the Morgan Family Foundation,which awards grants to youth programs,education,and environmental conservation [3] [7] and was elected to a five-year term on the Stanford University Board of Trustees. [4] In 1998,Morgan was elected to the Cornell University Board of Trustees [8] and re-elected in 2002. [9] From 2008 to 2009,Morgan served on the State of California's Commission on the 21st Century Economy. [1] In 2011,the Morgans donated a $10 million gift supports top priorities of Cornell. [10]
In 2019,it was announced that the couple would close the foundation as of December 31,2019. [11] [12]
Morgan resides in Los Altos Hills,California with her husband,James C. Morgan,whom she met while they were students at Cornell. [5] James Morgan was CEO of Applied Materials from 1977 to 2003 and Chairman of the Applied Materials Board from 1987 to 2009. [13] The Morgans have two adult children,Jeff and Mary. [14]

Stanford Shopping Center is an upscale open air shopping mall located on Route 82 at Sand Hill Road in Palo Alto,California. It is on the campus of Stanford University although the university only owns the land and not the actual buildings or stores. Also,unlike the main academic campus,the shopping center and the neighboring Stanford University Medical Center are part of the city of Palo Alto,not the census-designated place (CDP) of Stanford,California. The shopping center buildings are 94.4% owned by Simon Property Group,which manages the property and leases the land from the university.

He is best known for founding Global Heritage Fund (GHF),a non-profit organization that works internationally to preserve cultural heritage sites in the developing world. From 2002 to 2012,Morgan served as GHF's Executive Director.
Ken Yeager is an American politician. He served on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors,representing District 4. First elected to the board in 2006,he represented the cities of Campbell and Santa Clara,as well as west San Jose and the Burbank and Cambrian neighborhoods. Previously,Yeager served on the San Jose City Council from 2000 to 2006. Before that,he served two terms on the San Jose/Evergreen Community College Board. He was a candidate for the 23rd district seat in the California State Assembly in 1996,coming in second.

Stanford station is a Caltrain station in Palo Alto,California,near the stadium on the Stanford University campus. It is not a regular stop;instead,it is only in service for Stanford football home games and other large events at the stadium. The usual stop for the university is the Palo Alto station. The station does not have ticket vending machines;however,when in use,Caltrain staff will be present with handheld Clipper card readers so people can tag on and off.
Byron D. Sher is an American Democratic politician. He served in the California State Senate from 1996 to 2004,prior to which,he served in the California State Assembly between 1980 and 1996.
