Benjamin Griffin (born May 6, 1996) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. [1]

Amateur career

Griffin played college golf at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2014 to 2018, [3] winning three tournaments. [4]

Professional career

Griffin turned professional in 2018 after graduating from North Carolina and began playing on the PGA Tour Canada. He won the Staal Foundation Open in July. [5] In 2019, he played on the PGA Tour Canada and Korn Ferry Tour with limited success. [5] In 2020, he played on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica and LocaliQ Series (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). [5] He stepped away from golf for most of 2021 and worked as a loan officer for a mortgage group in North Carolina. [1] [6] He returned to golf and earned his Korn Ferry Tour card for 2022 via Q-school. [7] [8]

In 2022, Griffin played on the Korn Ferry Tour and finished runner-up in three events: Astara Golf Championship, LECOM Suncoast Classic, and BMW Charity Pro-Am. [5] He finished 8th on the regular season points list to earn his PGA Tour card for 2023. [9] He has two runner-up finishes on the PGA Tour: the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship [10] and 2024 RBC Canadian Open. [11]

Personal

Griffin's great-grandfather, Ben Shields, was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies in the 1920s and 1930s. [1]

The event returned to mid-September in 2016, and became part of the Web.com Tour Finals as the penultimate event. The schedule was revised for 2019 and it moved to late August.
