Ben Lukas Boysen, also known by his stage name Hecq, is an electronic music composer based in Berlin. [1]

Biography

Boysen studied classical guitar and piano as a child. [2] He moved to Berlin in the early 2000s, setting up a studio called Hecq Audio, [3] and composed electronic music under the alias Hecq [4] from 2003. As Hecq, he released music in a variety of electronic styles, including glitch, ambient, breakcore, abstract IDM, and dubstep, mostly on the label Hymen Records. [5]

In 2014, his piece "Sleepers Beat Theme" was featured as the opening track of Jon Hopkins's LateNightTales compilation CD. [6] He signed with Erased Tapes in 2016 and has released three solo full-length albums to date as Ben Lukas Boysen. The first, Gravity, was originally issued in 2013, but was reissued by Erased Tapes in 2016; the second album, Spells, was released in 2016 as well. [7] [8] In 2017 Boysen’s video game score in collaboration with Sebastian Plano, Everything, [9] was released; while 2020 saw the release of his third solo album Mirage. [10]

Boysen also does soundtrack work and has written pieces for entities such as Marvel and Amnesty International. [11]

Ad Noiseam is an independent record label that has from 2001 onwards published electronic music in the form of as well as hip-hop and jazz based in Berlin, Germany. Ad Noiseam was founded in April of 2001 by Nicolas Chevreux, who also has done some of the design work for the label's releases. Ad Noiseam originally started out as a webzine but quickly moved on to being a record-label establishing a name for itself with its first release "Krach Test", a true tour-de-force 3CDr set featuring anyone who was anyone in the 2001 electronic music scene.
