Benjamin Movsas is an American radiation oncologist. He is the chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Henry Ford Cancer Institute, Henry Ford Hospital. [1]

Biography

Movsas was educated at Harvard University and Washington University School of Medicine (1990). [1] He previously held the position of vice-chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. He is also a leader in several nationwide multi-center clinical trials. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Quality of Life Committee and the National Patterns of Care Lung Committee within the American College of Radiology. He serves on the board of directors of the American Society for Radiation Oncology. [2] He is a Fellow and past president of the American Radium Society. [3]

He is married to Tammy Z. Movsas, who also is a physician. They have four children. [4]

He consults for Northwell Health Complex of affiliated Hospitals including Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and NYU School of Medicine. He is Chair of the Ophthalmic Oncology Task Force for the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), wrote the eye cancer staging systems section for the Union International for Cancer Control (UICC). As Chair, he brought together an OOTF to develop consensus eye plaque radiation guidelines for The American Brachytherapy Society - American Association of Physicists in Medicine. Dr. Finger was the first the only ophthalmologist asked to serve on the 2012 American Association of Physicists in Medicine’s Task Group-129 that produced both dosimetry and quality assurance standards for plaque brachytherapy. As of 2021, Dr. Finger has authored over 335 peer-review scientific articles, 2 books, 54 book chapters and 2 web sites.

Maurice Lenz was a pioneer in the field of radiation therapy. Born in Kovno, Russian Empire, Lenz studied at New York University and Bellevue Medical College, and received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1913. He was a professor of radiation oncology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, a past president of the American Radium Society and held many other clinical and administrative roles throughout a long career in medicine.

Hedvig Hricak was born in 1946, in Zagreb, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia and earned her MD degree from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1970. She was Chairman of the Department of Radiology, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from November 1999 to January 2023. She is professor of radiology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
