Benjamin S. Cook is an American scientist, entrepreneur, advisory board member, professor, and author. He is best known for his pioneering work in printed electronics and for implementing the first semiconductor-compatible printed electronics process, VIPRE. [1] [2] He holds over 150 patents and patents pending, and over 100 peer reviewed journal and conference publications.

Biography

Benjamin S. Cook received the bachelor of science degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology , the master of science degree from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and the doctor of philosophy degree in electrical engineering and materials science from Georgia Institute of Technology. [3]

From 2006 - 2014, he was the Founder and President of Soft-Tronics, a technology consulting firm which partnered with technology startups to accelerate growth and market penetration. [4] In 2014, he joined Texas Instruments Kilby Labs to industrialize his pioneering work in semiconductor printed electronics and additive manufacturing. Currently, he is the Sr. Director of Texas Instruments' Nanotechnology Organization and holds advisory positions on the Rose-Hulman Academic Advisory Board, the Elsevier Journal of Additive Manufacturing, as well as several other research consortiums.

Nick Holonyak

Nick Holonyak Jr. is an American engineer and educator. He is noted particularly for his 1962 invention of a light-emitting diode (LED) that emitted visible red light instead of infrared light; Holonyak demonstrated the LED on October 9, 1962 while working at General Electric's research laboratory in Syracuse, New York. He is a John Bardeen Endowed Chair Emeritus in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he has been since leaving General Electric in 1963.

Federico Capasso, a prominent applied physicist, was one of the inventors of the quantum cascade laser during his work at Bell Laboratories. He is currently on the faculty of Harvard University. He has co-authored over 450 papers, edited four volumes, and holds over 60 US patents.

James Donald Meindl was director of the Joseph M. Pettit Microelectronics Research Center and the Marcus Nanotechnology Research Center and Pettit Chair Professor of Microelectronics at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He won the 2006 IEEE Medal of Honor "for pioneering contributions to microelectronics, including low power, biomedical, physical limits and on-chip interconnect networks.”

Printed electronics Electronic devices created by various printing methods

Printed electronics is a set of printing methods used to create electrical devices on various substrates. Printing typically uses common printing equipment suitable for defining patterns on material, such as screen printing, flexography, gravure, offset lithography, and inkjet. By electronic industry standards, these are low cost processes. Electrically functional electronic or optical inks are deposited on the substrate, creating active or passive devices, such as thin film transistors; capacitors; coils; resistors. Printed electronics is expected to facilitate widespread, very low-cost, low-performance electronics for applications such as flexible displays, smart labels, decorative and animated posters, and active clothing that do not require high performance.

Chenming Calvin Hu is a Taiwanese-American electronic engineer who specializes in microelectronics. He is TSMC Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the electronic engineering and computer science department of the University of California, Berkeley, in the United States. Arati Prabhakar is an American engineer and the former head of DARPA, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a position she held from July 30, 2012 to January 20, 2017. She is a founder and the CEO of Actuate, a nonprofit organization.

Lawrence Joseph Giacoletto was an American electrical engineer and inventor. He was known among others for his work in the field of semiconductor circuit technology, in particular by the eponymous Giacoletto equivalent circuit for transistors.

Valipe Ramgopal Rao is the director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He was a P.K.Kelkar Chair Professor in Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and is now also the director at IIT Delhi. Ramgopal Rao has more than 450 publications in various journals, and 45 patents in the areas of Electron devices and Nanoelectronics. Ramgopal Rao was the first elected chairman for the Indian Section of the American Nano Society.
