Education in Malaysia is overseen by the Ministry of Education. Although education is the responsibility of the Federal Government, each state and federal territory has an Education Department to co-ordinate educational matters in its territory. The main legislation governing education is the Education Act 1996.
Brunei–Muara District or simply known as Brunei–Muara, is the smallest as well as the most populated district in Brunei. It has an area of 571 square kilometres (220 sq mi) and the population of 318,530 as of 2021. The district is also home to its administrative centre is Bandar Seri Begawan, as well as the Brunei International Airport and Muara Port, the country's only international airport and deep-water port respectively. The Brunei River flows within this district and is home to Kampong Ayer. As the administrative center of Brunei is located in the district, it remains the most developed in the country with the most up-to-date infrastructure, despite not being the center of Brunei's main economic activity.

It is a popular shopping and dining area in the city as well as in Brunei, with several shops, restaurants and cafes establishing their presence in the area. Notably, the area was formerly a rubber estate and was called Gadong Estate or Gadong Rubber Estate.
Berakas Sixth Form Centre, was a government-run sixth form centre in Brunei Darussalam, located in Lambak Kiri. PTEB, opened in November 2005. Students studied towards Cambridge 'A' and 'AS' level qualifications.

The Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College, colloquially known as Maktab Duli (MD), is a government sixth form college located at Jalan Pasar Gadong in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Established in 1974, it is the first sixth form centre in the country, and has since provided sixth form education leading up to GCE A Level qualification.
The Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC), natively known as Maktab Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien (MSOAS), is a government boys' secondary school in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. It is the first English secondary school in the country. The school is also one of the only three boys' secondary schools nationwide, with the other two being Muda Hashim Secondary School and Ma'had Islam Brunei. RPN Lambak Kanan, Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan or simply Lambak Kanan is a public housing estate in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei, on the outskirts of the country's capital Bandar Seri Begawan. The total population was 19,833 in 2016. Established in 1986, it is the first estate for the National Housing Scheme, the public housing programme for the country's citizens.

Sufri Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III is a member of the royal family of Brunei. He is the third son of Omar Ali Saifuddien III, the 28th Sultan of Brunei, and Raja Isteri (Queen) Pengiran Anak Damit. He is also the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) since 2010.
Muslim bin Haji Burut, pen name Muslim Burmat, was a writer from Brunei who wrote a great deal of literature, particularly novels and short stories that are used in Brunei's educational institutions. In addition to receiving numerous literary honours, his works—which are primarily realistic but also include fresh historiography—showcase aspects of Brunei society.
Following its independence in 1984, Brunei developed four education policies from 1954 to 1984.
