Berkin Usta (born 29 May 2000) is a Turkish male Olympian alpine skier. [1]

Early years

Berkin Usta was born in Bursa, Turkey on 29 May 2000. [1] His father Yahya Usta was a national alpine skier. He began skiing at age of only two and half. [2]

He studies International Trade and Business at Istanbul Bilgi University. [3]

Sports career

Usta performs alpine skiing, and is a member of 16 Sports Club" in his hometown. [1]

He participated in the grand slalom event of the 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Erzurum, Turkey, and ranked 21st. [4]

He competes at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. [2] [3]

Shannon-Ogbnai Abeda is an Eritrean-Canadian alpine skier and Ski Cross athlete. Abeda competed for Eritrea at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the alpine skiing events. Abeda became the first athlete to compete for Eritrea at the Winter Olympics. He finished 61st in the giant slalom event in 2018, did not finish the first run of the slalom event and finished 39th at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Abeda's parents fled the Eritrean War of Independence in the 1980s and emigrated to Canada. Abeda also represented the country at the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics in 2012 in Innsbruck, Austria. Abeda originally announced his intentions to take the 2018/2019 season off and attend university after the 2018 Winter Olympic Games however announced his retirement and change to bobsleigh. He hinted that he would return for the 2022 Winter Olympics games, but also at the possibility of retirement. In 2021, his FIS status indicated that he competed in two races in April 2021 confirming his return to Alpine and in September 2021, he officially came out of retirement and announced his intentions to qualify for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. On December 21, 2021, Abeda qualified for the 2022 Winter Olympics; shortly after his event, he announced his retirement from Alpine skiing. However, as of 2023 his FIS license is active and he has stated on his social media that he would return for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Olha Ihorivna Knysh is a former female alpine skier from Ukraine. She represented Ukraine at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She participated thrice at World Cup in giant slalom but she didn't manage to qualify for the second run in any race.

Asa Bisquera Miller is a Filipino American alpine skier who competed for the Philippines at the Winter Olympics in the giant slalom and slalom. He competed in the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, also serving as the flagbearer for his country during the respective game's opening ceremonies. He previously participated in the 2017 World Junior Alpine Skiing Championships in Sweden.

Furkan Akar is a Turkish Olympian short track speed skater. He is the first representative of Turkey at the Olympic Games in short track speed skating. He is also the first and only Turkish athlete placed in "Top 10" at the Winter Olympics by finishing 6th in the 1000-meter event at the 2022 Winter Olympics held in Beijing, China. Akar finished third (1:34.780) and gained a bronz medal in the 2023 European Championship 1000 metres race, a first for Turkey.

Noa Szőllős is a female Hungarian-born Israeli alpine ski racer born in Budapest, Hungary. Szőllős and her brother, alpine ski racer Barnabás Szőllős, were selected by the Olympic Committee of Israel to compete for Israel in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Noa Szőllős became the youngest Israeli to medal at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics when she was 16, taking home silver and bronze in alpine events.
