Berwyn Du Bois, [2] known mononymously as Berwyn, (styled in all caps) is a Trinidad-born rapper, producer, and songwriter, who is now based in East London. [3]
Berwyn Du Bois [1] was born in Diego Martin, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Romford, East London at the age of nine. [1] [2] [4] His father was a bus driver and his mother a youth worker. [5] According to Berwyn, his father has also worked as a DJ, and his family were "always musical". [6] Berwyn attended the Royal Liberty School, where he was inspired by his music teacher who would take him to a folk club. Berwyn stated that he is still into folk music. [5] [1] Due to his uncertain immigration status, Berwyn was unable to go to university despite earning adequate grades and also struggled to find work. This was a factor in pursuing a career in music. [6] Berwyn previously worked at a Subway franchise in a hospital. [1]
Berwyn's debut mixtape, Demotape/Vega was released on 25 September 2020, though it was written in two weeks in 2018. [3] [6]
In late 2020, Berwyn was placed third in the BBC Sound Of 2021 list. [1]
In late 2021 Demotape/Vega was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize album of the year. [7] Berwyn was eligible due to rule change to the Mercury, allowing anyone who has been resident in the UK or Ireland for more than five years to be nominated. The change was made after a 2020 protest by Japanese-British pop singer Rina Sawayama, whose debut album Sawayama was deemed ineligible because she did not have a British passport. [7]
In November 2021, Berwyn was nominated for 'Best Newcomer' at the MOBO Awards. [8] He released his debut studio album, Who Am I on 12 July 2024. [9]
Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, better known by his stage name Chip, is a British rapper from Tottenham, North London. In the past 14 years he has collaborated with the likes of Skepta, T.I., Meek Mill, Young Adz and many others. In 2009, he released his debut album, I Am Chipmunk, featuring four songs which peaked in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, including the chart-topping "Oopsy Daisy". Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, known professionally as 21 Savage, is a British rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in London and raised in Atlanta he began his recording career in 2013 and released three independent mixtapes to regional acclaim. His breakout project—the collaborative extended play (EP) with record producer Metro Boomin titled Savage Mode (2016)—peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200. Its lead singles, "X" and "No Heart" both peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, he saw further recognition for his guest appearance on Drake's single "Sneakin'". He then signed a recording contract with Epic Records in January 2017.
Rina Sawayama is a Japanese and British singer, actress and model. Born in Niigata, Japan, she immigrated to London with her parents at the age of five. In 2017, she self-released her debut extended play, Rina. After signing to Dirty Hit in 2020, she released her debut studio album, Sawayama, to critical acclaim. Her second studio album, Hold the Girl, was released on 16 September 2022. Known for her musical versatility, Sawayama has also modelled for fashion campaigns, and made her film acting debut in the action film John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).
Momodou Lamin Jallow, known professionally as J Hus, is a British rapper and singer who has been credited with pioneering the genre Afroswing. He is currently signed to Black Butter Records. He gained popularity in 2015 following the release of his song "Dem Boy Paigon".
D-Block Europe, often abbreviated to DBE, is a British hip hop collective consisting of Adam Nathaniel "Young Adz" Williams, and Ricky Earl "Dirtbike LB" Banton. Their name originated after being co-signed by Jadakiss, resulting in Jadakiss launching the European staple of his record label D-Block Records, creating D-Block Europe. They started to put out tracks on their own label at the beginning of 2014. The group rose to fame in 2017 after releasing numerous singles including "Large Amounts", "Darling", "Nasty".

Dimarjio Antonio Jenkins, better known by his stage name Houdini, was a Canadian rapper from Toronto, Ontario. He first gained recognition from his certified gold single "Late Nights" which contained vocal features from Burna Bandz and was released in 2017. This was followed by the singles "Myself" and "Backseat". He was also known for his frequent collaborations with fellow rappers Pressa, Robin Banks and NorthSideBenji, which includes the latter's certified gold single "Levels" which saw a feature from Houdini. He released his debut mixtape Hou I Am on February 13, 2019. His sophomore mixtape Hou Woulda Thought followed on August 2, 2019. His debut EP underGROUND was released on March 18, 2020. This would be his last release during his lifetime as he was shot and killed on May 26, 2020.

Jaiden Anthony Watson, better known by his stage name NorthSideBenji, is a Canadian rapper and musician from Brampton, Ontario. Benji gained recognition from his Certified Gold single "Levels", which featured Toronto rapper Houdini. The single was released in December 2018, and was the only supporting single of his debut extended play, Caviar Dreams, which was released on January 18, 2019. He released his second EP Frienemy on September 6, 2019.
Rhys Angelo Emile Herbert, known professionally as Digga D, is a UK drill artist. He rose to fame in 2017 along with his UK drill collective CGM. His mixtapes Double Tap Diaries and Made In The Pyrex reached No. 11 and 3 on the UK Albums Chart, respectively.
