MOBO Awards 2021 ceremony was held at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry on 5 December 2021. [1] The ceremony streamed live on YouTube and the highlights of the ceremony were shown on BBC One three days later. [2]

Contents

The nominees were announced on 11 November 2021, led by rapper Dave with five nominations. [3] Central Cee and Wizkid won the most awards of the night with two each. [4] The ceremony honoured former heavyweight boxer Frank Bruno for his work in raising awareness of mental health issues. [5]

Amin Mohamed, better known as Chunkz, is a British YouTuber, host, entertainer, and former musician. He is a member of the YouTube group Beta Squad. As of April 2024, his YouTube channel had over 3.4 million subscribers and 271 million video views.

D-Block Europe, often abbreviated to DBE, is a British hip hop collective consisting of Adam Nathaniel "Young Adz" Williams, and Ricky Earl "Dirtbike LB" Banton. Their name originated after being co-signed by Jadakiss, resulting in Jadakiss launching the European staple of his record label D-Block Records, creating D-Block Europe. They started to put out tracks on their own label at the beginning of 2014. The group rose to fame in 2017 after releasing numerous singles including "Large Amounts", "Darling" and "Nasty".

Sault are a British music collective that make a mixture of R&B, urban contemporary gospel, house and disco. The project is helmed by songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Inflo, and includes vocalists Cleo Sol, Kid Sister, and Chronixx. Jack Peñate has also collaborated with the collective. The group frequently puts Black-centric issues at the foreground.

Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, known professionally as Central Cee, is a British rapper and songwriter from Shepherd's Bush, London. He rose to prominence in 2020 with the release of the singles "Day in the Life" and "Loading". His first mixtape Wild West was released on 12 March 2021, which debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. His second mixtape 23 was released on 25 February 2022 and debuted atop the UK Albums Chart.

<i>Sometimes I Might Be Introvert</i> 2021 studio album by Little Simz

Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is the fourth studio album by English rapper Little Simz, released on 3 September 2021 by Age 101 Music and AWAL. The album succeeds the Mercury Prize-nominated album Grey Area, released in 2019, and the five-track EP, Drop 6 (2020). It is supported by five singles: "Introvert", "Woman", "Rollin Stone", "I Love You, I Hate You" and "Point and Kill". The album is produced by frequent collaborator Inflo, and includes guest appearances from Cleo Sol and Obongjayar.

Dean Josiah Cover, professionally known as Inflo, is a British producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He helms the R&B music collective project Sault, which foregrounds black-centric issues.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Brit Awards 2022</span> 42nd edition of the Brit Awards

Brit Awards 2022, presented by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), was held on 8 February 2022 to recognize the best in British and international music. The ceremony took place at The O2 Arena in London, and was hosted by British comedian Mo Gilligan. Coverage of the red carpet was broadcast on ITV2 and presented by Clara Amfo and Maya Jama.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Brit Award for British Artist of the Year</span>

The Brit Award for British Artist of the Year is an award given by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), an organisation which represents record companies and artists in the United Kingdom. The accolade is presented at the Brit Awards, an annual celebration of British and international music. The winners and nominees are determined by the Brit Awards voting academy with over one thousand members, which comprise record labels, publishers, managers, agents, media, and previous winners and nominees.

The 25th MOBO Awards were held on 30 November 2022 at the Wembley Arena in London, to recognize achievements in "music of black origin" during 2022. The ceremony was hosted by internet personalities Chunkz and Yung Filly, and was live-streamed through YouTube.

After a fallow year in 2023, due to the organisers moving the ceremony to coincide with the early-year awards season that features the Grammys and the Brit Awards, the 26th MOBO Awards were held on 7 February 2024 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. The 26th annual awards recognised achievements in "Music Of Black Origin" during 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023. The ceremony was hosted by former Love Island star Indiyah Polack and actor Babatunde Aléshé. It was live-streamed through YouTube, with highlights shown by the BBC two days later.
