After a fallow year in 2023, due to the organisers moving the ceremony to coincide with the early-year awards season that features the Grammys and the Brit Awards, the 26th MOBO Awards were held on 7 February 2024 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. [1] [2] The 26th annual awards recognised achievements in "Music Of Black Origin" during 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023. [3] The ceremony was hosted by former Love Island star Indiyah Polack and actor Babatunde Aléshé. [4] It was live-streamed through YouTube, with highlights shown by the BBC two days later. [5]

The nominees were announced on 14 December 2023. In addition to the two existing honorary awards, Paving the Way and Lifetime Achievement, two additional awards were announced: Mobo Impact and Mobo Pioneer. [6] The Outstanding Contribution Award was not bestowed in this year.

Performers

Headline acts consisting of Soul II Soul, Byron Messia and DJ Spoony were announced on 19 January 2024. [4] Other acts on the night included Camidoh and King Promise. [7] [8] DJ Spoony curated a set celebrating 30 years of UK garage with support from many other artists and Sugababes performed a medley of their well known hits. [9]

Central Cee received two awards, including Best Male Act for the second year in a row, which gave him a grand total of six MOBOs, tying him with Stormzy as the most-awarded rapper in the MOBO awards' history. [16]

No Thank You is the fifth studio album by British rapper Little Simz. It was released on 12 December 2022 through the independent label Forever Living Originals after being announced less than a week prior. No Thank You is a hip hop album containing elements of gospel, soul, funk, and electronic music.

D-Block Europe, often abbreviated to DBE, is a British hip hop collective consisting of Adam Nathaniel "Young Adz" Williams, Ricky Earl "Dirtbike LB" Banton and Lil Pino. Their name originated after being co-signed by Jadakiss, resulting in Jadakiss launching the European staple of his record label D-Block Records, creating D-Block Europe. They started to put out tracks on their own label at the beginning of 2014. The group rose to fame in 2017 after releasing numerous singles including "Large Amounts", "Darling", "Nasty".

His second mixtape 23 was released on 25 February 2022 and debuted atop the UK Albums Chart.

Andrés Felipe Barrientos, known professionally as Yung Filly or simply Filly, is a Colombian-British YouTuber and musician. Born in Colombia and later moving to the UK, he began his YouTube career in 2013, starting a music career in 2017. Beginning in 2018, he appeared on numerous shows, several of which he hosted.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Flo (group)</span> British girl group

Flo is a British girl group from London, consisting of members Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer. They formed in 2019 and signed with Island Records. The group gained popularity on social media with their debut single "Cardboard Box". They released their debut EP, The Lead, in 2022. They topped the BBC's Sound of 2023 poll and won the 2023 Brit Award for Rising Star.

MOBO Awards 2021 ceremony was held at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Coventry on 5 December 2021. The ceremony streamed live on YouTube and the highlights of the ceremony were shown on BBC One three days later.

The 25th MOBO Awards were held on 30 November 2022 at the Wembley Arena in London, to recognize achievements in "music of black origin" during 2022. The ceremony was hosted by internet personalities Chunkz and Yung Filly, and was live-streamed through YouTube.
