"Better" is a song by New Zealand singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser from her first album, What to Do with Daylight (2003). It was released as her debut single in 2003 and reached number three on the New Zealand Singles Chart.
This was the song that introduced and launched Fraser as a recording artist in New Zealand. She wrote the song when she was in seventh form in high school. The song was also used in the New Zealand advertisements for World Vision, with Brooke appearing in them as well.
"Better" debuted on the New Zealand Singles Chart at number fifty on 6 July 2003 and peaked at number three where it stayed for four weeks. The song spent a total of twenty two weeks on the chart. Furthermore, the single was the tenth biggest song in the year-end Top 50 Singles of 2003.
In the video, Temuera Morrison played Brooke's father. He is basically a drunken and abusive father that can never take care of himself, and Brooke is looking for a way out.

Innocent Eyes is the debut studio album by Australian singer Delta Goodrem, released in Australia on 24 March 2003. It was later released in the United Kingdom on 30 June 2003. Goodrem co-wrote most of the material, excluding "Throw It Away", "Lost Without You" and "Butterfly". The album features two self-penned songs, "In My Own Time" and "Will You Fall for Me". Goodrem worked with writers and producers such as: Audius Mtawarira, Bridget Benenate, Cathy Dennis, Eliot Kennedy, Gary Barlow, Jarrad Rogers, Kara DioGuardi, Vince Pizzinga and others to create the album with a collection of piano-based pop and ballad tracks.
Brooke Gabrielle Ligertwood also known by her maiden name Brooke Fraser, is a New Zealand singer and songwriter best known for her hit single "Something in the Water", released in 2010. Fraser released two studio albums What to Do with Daylight (2003) and Albertine (2006) through Columbia Records before signing a recording contract with Wood + Bone. Her third studio album, Flags, was released in 2010 and is her most successful album to date. She released the album, Brutal Romantic, in November 2014 through Vagrant Records. After a long hiatus from solo albums, she released her first live album, Seven, in 2022, while another studio album, Eight, was released on October 20, 2023.

Deciphering Me was performed live on the current affairs show Close Up on 1 December. During the preceding interview, Fraser stated that the song is about "vulnerability and trust". This was in fact one of presenter Susan Wood's last shows before her resignation due to health problems.
