Bewl Valley Sailing Club was a sailing dinghy and windsurfing club that had approximately 920 full members (1,400 capacity), but entered into insolvency administration in 2015 and closed. Its former premises at Bewl Water are now occupied by the site's current tenant, the Markerstudy Group.[ citation needed ]
It was affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association and was a registered RYA Training Centre. The club formerly organised safety boat cover for sailing and windsurfing every Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. The purpose-built water sports club house was leased by Bewl Valley Sailing Club and its facilities are shared with Bewl Bridge Rowing Club and Bewl Canoe Club. In July 2010, the club was awarded £10,000 [1] by Sport England that was to be spent towards purchasing new training dinghies.
On 16 July 2015 the club went into administration. [2] Previously, on 20 June 2015 the club had issued a notice of intention to appoint an administrator. [3]
The former clubhouse is situated at Bewl Water on the north side of the reservoir near Lamberhurst, Kent. Bewl Water has up to 700 acres of sailing area if all of the estuaries and inlets are included. Most members sailed in the 200-250 acre area south of the club house and launch slipways. The surrounding Kent High Weald countryside is part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Bewl Water reservoir is the largest stretch of open water in the South East and when full can hold more than 31,000 million litres of water. The reservoir offers one of the few large recreational open spaces in south east England located in a tranquil setting where there is virtually no background traffic noise. It can be accessed from the A21 Its former premises at Bewl Water are now occupied by the site's current tenant, the Markerstudy Group.[ citation needed ]
Bewl Valley Sailing Club was founded in 1967 but no sailing took place until 1977 due to Bewl Water reservoir being under construction, lined with clay and then filled from the River Medway and local bore holes. In 2008, the Mariners of Bewl (MOB), an integrated sailing club for the physically disabled and able bodied elected to combine with Bewl Valley Sailing Club. [4]
There was organised fleet racing on Sundays for Lasers, Solos and Flying Fifteens in addition to Slow and Fast Handicap fleets. Other classes of boats regularly sailed at the club included the RS400, Topper, Optimist and Enterprise dinghies.
Bewl Valley Sailing Club hosted a number of inland open meetings each year including events for Solos, Phantoms, Comets, Laser 2000s, Laser Vagos, Wanderers, Flying Fifteens and the London Windsurf Association. [ citation needed ]
In addition to general sailing on Saturdays and Sundays, the club was open on Wednesday evenings from May to August and on each of the four summer Bank Holiday Mondays. During the month of August, the club house was open every day and safety boat cover was provided, except during Youth Week during which there was no club sailing for ordinary members. Members also organised Away Cruises on tidal waters such as to Bradwell in Essex. The Midweekers, an informal group of members met each Wednesday to sail or take part in another outdoor activity. Family week ran for more than 20 years. The event was organised voluntarily by club members and offers a full programme of water and land based activities including evening entertainment in the club house. Each summer some 250 family members camped onsite during the first week of the school holidays at the end of July (22–28 July 2012). The club held two camping weekends during 2012 (4–7 May & 25–27 May). In addition the club held its annual Family open day on Saturday 21 July 2012, when there were to be opportunities to "have a go" at Windsurfing & Sailing. [ citation needed ]

Bolton Sailing Club is an inland sailing club located close to the village of Belmont in Lancashire to the north of Bolton, Greater Manchester in the West Pennine Moors. The club sails on Belmont Reservoir which provides a large area of open water for sailing. Bolton SC was one of the first Clubs in the UK to sign up to the RYA OnBoard Scheme and is also an RYA Sailability Foundation club. In 2009, Bolton SC was awarded RYA Champion Club status.

The East Lothian Yacht Club or ELYC is based at the harbour in North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. It was founded in 1928 and moved from its temporary base at the Fishermans Hall to the current building in 1931, since which time various expansions and redevelopments have taken place. Some of the ELYC's buildings are now shared with the Scottish Seabird Centre. The interior of the club was completely remodelled in 2003.
The Laser Stratos is an all-round cruising and racing boat designed by Phil Morrison and built by Laser Performance, the same company as the famous Laser Standard dinghy. It is built from fibre-glass and foam sandwich. The Laser Stratos comes in two forms, one with a keel and one with a centreboard. The centreboard version is red and the keel version is blue. The Stratos is quite spacious and most of the rigging is kept out of the way. The boat can optionally be fitted with trapeze lines and an engine bracket for carrying an outboard engine.
The RS300 is a modern racing sailing dinghy made by RS Sailing. The RS300 is a one-design, single-handed, hiking dinghy with a PY of 972. Designed by Clive Everest and first produced in 1998, it is inspired by the International Moth, of which Everest was a successful designer.
The National Solo class is a racing dinghy designed by Jack Holt in 1956. The Solo is sailed in the United Kingdom, Holland, Portugal and Australia.
The RS Feva is a two-person sailing dinghy designed by Paul Handley in 2002. It is manufactured and distributed by RS Sailing. The RS Feva is an International Sailing Federation (ISAF) International Class, a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Supported Junior Class, and has been selected by the Dansk Sejlunion and Norges Seilforbund for major sailing growth projects.

The Comet is a single handed, one design racing dinghy available with three separate rigging options: Standard, Xtra and Mino, that can be raced competitively alongside each other. It is mainly sailed in the United Kingdom at club level and at open meetings organised by the Comet Class Association. The Comet is a recognised RYA dinghy class.
The Topaz Omega is a sailing dinghy created by Topper International designed for between 1 and 7 crew members. It is sailed at many clubs around the world and is an ISAF 'Learn to Sail' class.
Cardiff Sailing Centre is a Cardiff Council run watersports facility based on Cardiff Bay Barrage in Cardiff Bay. The centre runs dinghy & keelboat sailing, windsurfing, powerboat and other shorebased courses.
Bosham Sailing Club is the oldest sailing club in Chichester Harbour and was founded in 1907 It is located in the historic village of Bosham in West Sussex. Its clubhouse is the Old Mill on Bosham Quay.
