Bhrugu Baxipatra is an 46-year-old active politician [1] from India. He is a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and represents the Jeypore constituency [2] of Odisha. He is the son of Late Harish Chandra Baxipatra, ex-MLA of Koraput [3] constituency of Orissa and an ex-minister from the state government. [4]
Baxipatra is the son of Late Harish Chandra Baxipatra, a former India politician representing the state of Orissa. Bhrugu Baxipatra completed his BA degree from Berhampur University in the academic year 1997-1998, and went on to obtain an LLB from Utkal University in the academic year 1999-2000. [5]
Bhrugu Baxipatra is a well-known face among the politicians of India. He represents the Berhampur constituency of Odisha and was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He could figure out from the very start of his political career that on what grounds Berhampur is still to get better. He believed that a lack of advancement in matters like women empowerment, proper sanitation, basic health care, infrastructure, education system, pollution control and poverty are acting as hindrances towards the development of The Silk City.[ citation needed ]
He has until now proved to be successful in eradicating corruption and violence under his constituency, maintaining peace and harmony throughout.[ citation needed ]

He was a former transport and corporation minister in BJD-BJP alliance. He had quit from BJP, Odisha to join Bharatiya Janshakti Party on 30 April 2006. With Rama Chandra Panda, a former Deputy Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly, joined Bharatiya Janshakti Party. Then on Monday, Mar 24 2008, he joined the Samajwadi Party. Later, he joined Biju Janata Dal. and won as an MLA from Jayadev Assembly constituency in 2019 Odisha Legislative Assembly election. He later quit BJD and joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 3 March 2024.
