The canton of Schaffhausen, also canton of Schaffhouse, is the northernmost canton of Switzerland. The principal city and capital of the canton is Schaffhausen. The canton's territory is divided into three non-contiguous segments, where German territory reaches the Rhine. The large central part, which includes the capital, in turn separates the German exclave of Büsingen am Hochrhein from the rest of Germany.
The A4 motorway in Switzerland begins from Schaffhausen, in northern Switzerland, and travels southward into central Switzerland.

However, for historical reasons districts in cantons Graubünden and Schwyz are their own legal entities with jurisdiction over tax and often have their own Landsgemeinde.

The Biber is a small river in the borderland between Germany and Switzerland. The source is located at Watterdingen in the municipality Tengen, district of Constance in Baden-Wuerttemberg. After about 31 kilometres (19 mi) the Biber river flows into the Rhine at the Bibermühle west of Hemishofen in the Canton of Schaffhausen. The Biber is the largest tributary of the High Rhine on the stretch between Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen.
Thalwil railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Thalwil in the Swiss Canton of Zürich. The station is located on the Lake Zurich left bank main line and the Thalwil–Arth-Goldau railway, part of the Zurich to Lucerne line. To the Zurich side of the station, the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel diverges from the original lakeside line, whilst on the Lucerne side is the junction point where the Zurich to Chur and Zurich to Lucerne lines diverge. Thus all trains on both lines must pass through the station.
The S24 is a regional railway line of the Zürich S-Bahn of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network. The line was significantly extended in June 2014, and again in December 2015, and has subsumed the former S21 line previously providing service in parts of its extended route.

On 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Tscheppach, Brügglen, Aetingen, Aetigkofen, Bibern (SO), Gossliwil, Hessigkofen, Mühledorf (SO), Küttigkofen and Kyburg-Buchegg merged into the new municipality of Buchegg. On 1 January 2024 the former municipality of Lüterswil-Gächliwil merged into the municipality of Buchegg.
The Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Schaffhausen is a Reformed state church in Schaffhausen. In 2004 it had 36,000 members and 30 congregations, served by 40 pastors. The church was formed in 1529. It is a member of the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches and the Conference of Churches on the Rhine.
Verkehrsbetriebe Schaffhausen is a public transport company in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen. It operates bus and trolleybus lines covering the city of Schaffhausen and the surrounding canton, with one regional bus line passing through German territory.
