The Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB) is one of the oldest international honours for children's book illustrators. First granted in 1967 to Yasuo Segawa (Japan), [1] it is one of the more prestigious children's book awards today, along with the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Artists are selected by an international jury, and their original artwork is exhibited in Bratislava, Slovakia. From the very beginning BIB has been held under the auspices of UNESCO and the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Slovakia. There are twelve awards, including a grand prize for unique and outstanding illustration:

In 1987 BIBIANA – International House of Art for Children was founded as a "cultural institution with international activity". [2] BIBIANA now also organizes Biennial of Animation Bratislava (BAB). [3]

Stadion Pasienky is a multi-purpose stadium in Bratislava, Slovakia. The stadium holds 11,591 people. It is used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of Slovan Bratislava from 2009 to 2018. The intensity of the floodlighting is 1,400 lux.

Lukáš Csölley is a Slovak former competitive ice dancer. With Lucie Myslivečková, he competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. With Federica Testa, he won four ISU Challenger Series medals and bronze at the 2015 Winter Universiade. They finished in the top ten at the 2015 and 2016 European Championships.

Svjetlan Junaković is a Croatian painter, sculptor and illustrator, known best for his children's picture books. He has received numerous international awards for his illustrations and has participated in exhibitions throughout Europe. For his lasting contribution as a children's illustrator, Junaković was a finalist for the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award in both 2008 and 2010.

Alenka Sottler is a Slovene painter and illustrator. She lives and works in Ljubljana as a freelance illustrator and is a member of New York Society of Illustrators. She has illustrated over 50 books for children and adults, for which she received numerous awards and honours including her second nomination for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2014.

The 8th ZAI Awards, honoring the best in the Slovak music industry for individual achievements for the year of 1997, took time and place on March 2, 1998, at the New Scene Theater in Bratislava. The ceremony was held in association with the local Music Fund (HF) and was hosted by actress Zdena Studenková. Unlike the previous editions when a clay statuette was designed, the new winners were bestowed a golden, five-pointed star with an inscription that read Grammy Slovakia '97, stationed on a black base.

Quint Buchholz is a German painter, illustrator and author. He is best known for his colorful, pointillist paintings that draw on techniques and motifs of magical realism, as well as his book illustrations and children's books for which he has won a number of awards.

Margarita del Mazo is a Spanish writer of children's literature.

Eva Bednářová was a Czech printmaker and illustrator.

Renate Habinger is an Austrian graphic artist and illustrator. Habinger studied graphic design at the Federal Institute of Graphic Arts and Design (1971-1975) and since then, she has been working as a freelance artist. In 1997, she set up the workshop the "Schneiderhäusl" in Oberndorf an der Melk.

Bratislavská lýra was a Czechoslovak festival of popular songs that took place every year from 1966 until 1990 and was held in Bratislava. It was renewed in 1997 but cancelled again in 1998.

The Agrafka Creative Workshop is a design studio founded by Ukrainian artists Romana Romanyshyn and Andriy Lesiv. The studio is specialized in graphics, painting, and design. It has won international awards in the field of book illustration, including the Biennial International Award for Illustration and the 2018 Bologna Ragazzi Award.

Kim Jae-hong is a South Korean illustrator. He has held solo and group exhibitions presenting works based on the theme of "humans and nature as one." In 2004, he received the International Children's Book Award from the Foundation Espace Enfants in Switzerland for his first Picture book, The Children of the Donggang River.

Kim Ji-min is a South Korean picture book illustrator, author and print maker. Her best-known works include Hyde & Seek and The Seven Hours Itch.

Lee Myung-ae (Korean: 이명애 is a South Korean picture book author and illustrator. Her best-known works include Plastic Island, 10 Seconds, Tomorrow Will Be a Sunny Day, Vacation, and Flower.

Lee Gi-hun(Korean: 이기훈) is a South Korean picture book author. “Lee” is his surname. In 2013 his book Tin Bear was awarded the Children's Jury Prize at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (BIB)
