Robert Emile DeLeo is an American musician, best known as the bassist for rock band Stone Temple Pilots. He is part of Delta Deep and he has also played in Talk Show and Army of Anyone. He is the younger brother of Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo. He is also the former bass player for the supergroup Hollywood Vampires.

Jazz bass is the use of the double bass or electric bass guitar to improvise accompaniment ("comping") basslines and solos in a jazz or jazz fusion style. Players began using the double bass in jazz in the 1890s to supply the low-pitched walking basslines that outlined the chord progressions of the songs. From the 1920s and 1930s Swing and big band era, through 1940s Bebop and 1950s Hard Bop, to the 1960s-era "free jazz" movement, the resonant, woody sound of the double bass anchored everything from small jazz combos to large jazz big bands.

The Cinematics were an alternative rock band founded in 2003 in Glasgow, Scotland, and disbanded in 2011. Paul "Pablo" Wilson is a Scottish musician, who is best known as the bass guitarist for Scottish-Northern Irish alternative rock band Snow Patrol. He previously played guitar in Glasgow band Terra Diablo from 2000–2005. In March 2005, he replaced bassist Mark McClelland in Snow Patrol and switched instruments to bass. Wilson has been friends with the band years before he joined them and even Terra Diablo, and had contributed guitar and keyboards as an unofficial live member. He plays left-handed and generally uses a black Rickenbacker on-stage. He is a multi-instrumentalist and is trained in piano.
The Prostitutes are an indie rock band formed in 2004 in Prague, Czech Republic. The original members were singer Adrian T. Bell, guitarist Martin Destroyer, keyboard player Stevie LFO, bass-guitarist Mark Jukebox and drummer Luk Santiago . The Prostitutes released their first album "Get Me Out Of Here" in September 2006. In December 2006, Mark Jukebox left the band after long-term mutual disagreements. New bass-guitarist Šmity was on board immediately. Šmity is also known in the Czech Republic for his own band called Roe-Deer. In late 2009, Šmity left the band due to his time-consuming employment as a sound engineer. Adam Piaf, former frontman of the band Fake Tapes, became the new bass-guitarist.

The term backline is used in popular music and sound reinforcement system contexts to refer to electronic audio amplification equipment and speaker enclosures that are placed behind the band or the rhythm section on stage, including amplifiers and speaker cabinets for guitars, bass guitars and keyboards. Such equipment is often rented or leased by the band or their management, or provided by the venue. Speakers placed at the front of the stage facing the performers are also known as monitor speakers or "foldback". The main speakers facing the audience are sometimes referred to as "front of house speakers".
