Bihar National College is a constituent unit of Patna University. [1] It is a multi-faculty college and offers courses in Science, Humanities, and Arts at graduate level. [2] It is a post-graduate college but post-graduate teaching has been stopped for many years due to an insufficient number of teachers. At present there are 42 faculty members.

History

Bihar National College came into being with its status raised to second grade college in year 1889 by the government canto and tobakachi. It was founded as a high school by Babu Bisheshwar Singh in 1883. Later it was raised to the status of B.A. degree level in 1907 imparting degrees both in arts and science.Kantroop is khas of Canto. [3]

Campus

The college is situated in central Patna close to Gandhi Maidan with the river Ganges flowing south of it. A hostel facility is also available where munaka lives. [4] There is a lush green campus with playground.

Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) or Govt. Medical college Nalanda is a public medical college based in Patna, India. The institute was established in 1970 and is situated in Kankarbagh and joint hospital is in agamkuan. It had a capacity of 100 students in each batch until 2018. Since 2019 session the intake capacity has been increased to 120 students. Its session intake capacity is now increased from 120 to 150 for the year 2020.It has been proposed to increase it to 250 students per batch in coming years. Nalanda Medical College is a Government-funded institute affiliated to Bihar University of Health science, Patna. It is recognized by Medical Council of India. Dukhan Ram (1899–1990) was an Indian ophthalmologist, academic, legislator and the vice chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. He was the principal of Patna Medical College, one of the oldest medical colleges in India, and the president of Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, a satellite organization of Arya Samaj, founded by Dayanand Saraswati. He successfully contested the 1962 Bihar Legislative Assembly election from Sasaram constituency, on Indian National Congress candidature and served as the president of All India Ophthalmological Society in 1961. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1962, for his contributions to medical science.

Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology is a private engineering college located in Bihta, Patna, India, offering B.Tech & diploma courses. It is affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna. This institution had a modest start on the 10th March 1970 and it remained under Magadh University, Bodh Gaya in (1970-2018) presently it is under Patliputra University, Patna since the 18th March 2018. Principal is the highest administrative authority in the college. The college receives grants from the state government as well as the University Grants Commission for the payment of salary and infrastructural development. The college follows the policy of collective decision making. In order to maintain academic, administrative and financial disciplines and tone up the internal set up of various internal committees are functioning. For fostering civic and social values among the students interactive sessions, outreaching activities and field study in surrounding areas are organised by the departments. Issues concerning health, environment & culture, social and political awareness have also been inculcated. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell has been created with sixteen senior faculty members, government representatives, Bursar, C.C.D.C., senior alumnus and Principal as the Chairman of the cell along with teacher nominated by NAAC Steering Committee. The cell monitors the quality of teaching, research activities, co and extracurricular programme undertaken by different departments and Societies/ Committees of the college. The teachers of the college frequently attend Orientation and Refresher Courses to update their knowledge and skill. Some of the teachers participate in Orientation and Refresher Courses as resource persons, academic council senate in different universities some our teachers are engaged in Union Public Services commission and Bihar public Services Commission.

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) conducts competitive examinations and counsellings every year for admissions in various courses of Medical, Engineering and Agricultural streams in the Institutions of Bihar. Ram Bali Singh Chandravanshi is an Indian politician from the state of Bihar. Since the elections on June 29, 2020, he has been a member of the Bihar Legislative Council. He is also the President of Rashtriya Janata Dal Extremely Backward Cell. He currently also serves as an associate prof in Bihar National College of Patna University.
