William Mervin Mills, also known as Tamakoce Te'Hila, is an Oglala Lakota former track and field athlete who won a gold medal in the 10,000 meter run (6.2 mi) at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. His 1964 victory is considered one of the greatest Olympic upsets because he was a virtual unknown going into the event. He was the first non-European to win the Olympic event and remains the only winner from the Americas. A United States Marine, Billy Mills is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
The 1984 NBA draft was the 37th annual draft of the National Basketball Association (NBA). It was held at the Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, on June 19, 1984, before the 1984–85 season. The draft was broadcast in the United States on the USA Network. In this draft, 23 NBA teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players. The Houston Rockets won the coin flip and were awarded the first overall pick, while the Portland Trail Blazers, who obtained the Indiana Pacers' first-round pick in a trade, were awarded the second pick. The remaining first-round picks and the subsequent rounds were assigned to teams in reverse order of their win–loss record in the previous season. The Cleveland Cavaliers were awarded an extra first-round draft pick as compensation for the draft picks traded away by their previous owner, Ted Stepien. A player who had finished his four-year college eligibility was automatically eligible for selection. Before the draft, five college underclassmen announced that they would leave college early and would be eligible for selection. Prior to the draft, the San Diego Clippers relocated to Los Angeles and became the Los Angeles Clippers. The draft consisted of 10 rounds comprising the selection of 228 players. This draft was the last to be held before the creation of the draft lottery in 1985. It was also the first NBA draft to be overseen by David Stern, who would continue as the commissioner of the league for the following 30 years.
James Frederic Heuga was an American alpine ski racer who became one of the first two members of the U.S. men's team to win an Olympic medal in his sport. After multiple sclerosis prematurely ended his athletic career, he became an advocate of exercise and activity to combat the disease.

It would be 24 years before Bolivia returned to the Winter Olympics, at the 1980 Winter Olympics.

He broke two world records, in the indoor two and three mile events.

William Foster "Billy" Hardin is an American retired track and field athlete. He represented the United States at the 1964 Olympics in the 400 meters hurdles. He is the son of 1936 Olympic champion Glenn Hardin. Like his father, he ran for the LSU Tigers and won the NCAA championship in the 400 hurdles 30 years after his father repeated in the 440 yard dash. He was also the USA champion at 400 meters hurdles that year, duplicating a championship his father won three times. He finished second to Rex Cawley at the 1964 Olympic Trials as Cawley set the world record. Video on YouTube @:40 In the Olympics, he was the fastest of the first round, but finished in a non-qualifying sixth in his semi-final. Cawley went on to win the gold medal.
William Eugene "Billy Gene" Pemelton is a retired American track and field athlete. He represented the United States in the pole vault at the 1964 Olympics where he finished in eight place. He qualified by finishing third at the United States Olympic Trials. He vaulted collegiately for Abilene Christian University. Prior to that he went to Mercedes High School, winning the Texas State Championship in the 180 yard low hurdles. After the Olympics, he was the National Indoor Pole Vault Champion in 1965.
René Farwig is a Bolivian alpine skier. He competed in two events at the 1956 Winter Olympics.
