The 1948 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XIV Olympiad and officially branded as London 1948, were an international multi-sport event held from 29 July to 14 August 1948 in London, United Kingdom. Following a twelve-year hiatus caused by the outbreak of World War II, these were the first Summer Olympics held since the 1936 Games in Berlin. The 1940 Olympic Games had been scheduled for Tokyo and then for Helsinki, while the 1944 Olympic Games had been provisionally planned for London. This was the second time London hosted the Olympic Games, having previously hosted them in 1908, making it the second city to host summer olympics twice. The Olympics would return again to London 64 years later in 2012, making London the first city to host the games thrice, and the only such city until Paris, who hosted their third games in 2024, and Los Angeles, who will host theirs in 2028. The 1948 Olympic Games were also the first of two summer Games held under the IOC presidency of Sigfrid Edström.
Tania Cagnotto is an Italian diver. She is the first female Italian diver to win a medal in a World Championship. A five-time Olympian, she won medals in both individual and synchronized springboard diving in her final appearance at the Olympics in 2016. She is also a 20-time champion at the European level.

Pontus Hanson was a Swedish water polo player and swimmer, who won a bronze medal at the 1908 Summer Olympics in the 200 m breaststroke. In water polo he won bronze medals in 1908 and 1920 and a silver in 1912. His brother Sven competed in the 200 m breaststroke at the 1912 Olympics.

The swimming club goes under the nickname Kappis. The most famous swimmers of SKK are the twin brothers Arne Borg and Åke Borg. SKK organizes yearly an invitational meet named after Arne Borg, Arne Borgs minne.
Noemi Batki is a Hungarian-born Italian former diver. She was a member of the Italian National Diving Team at four Olympic Games and was a member of the sports section of the Italian Army, Centro Sportivo Esercito, and Triestina Nuoto.
Gustaf Adolf Viktor Blomgren was a Swedish diver who competed in the 1912 and 1920 Summer Olympics. In 1912 he won the bronze medal in the 10 m platform. Eight years later, he finished fourth in the 3 m springboard and in the 10 m platform events. During his diving career, Blomgren won five Swedish titles in the springboard and platform. He worked for the Gothenburg tram services.

She won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the 3 m synchro diving event with Émilie Heymans and a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the same event with Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu. Abel is a four-time Commonwealth Games champion in the 1 m and 3 m synchronized springboard; and is also a three-time Pan American Games champion in the 3 m springboard and 3 m synchronized springboard. Her ten medals at the FINA World Championships are a record for most medals by a Canadian in diving at the world championships.
Anabelle "Belle" Smith is an Australian diver. She is the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion in the 3 metre synchronized springboard. She competed in the 3 m springboard synchronized event at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal in 2016, and was placed fifth in 2012.
Inger Nordbø was a Danish/Norwegian sports swimmer and diver. She won two bronze medals at the European championships, in diving and breaststroke swimming, respectively. She competed in two Olympic games, in 1936 and 1948.
