Majesty Blessed Moses (born October 24, 1998), known professionally as Bizzy Banks, is an American rapper born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City. [3] [1] He is known for the hit single "30" with Pop Smoke which peaked at #97 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021. [4]

Early life

Majesty Blessed Moses was born on October 24, 1998, in Brooklyn to Trinidadian-American parents. He has an older brother and younger sister. Moses was inspired by the rappers G Herbo and Lil Wayne, and by his older brother. [5] Moses' favorite rappers growing up were Lil Wayne, G Herbo, Chief Keef, and Young Thug, and he was also influenced by reggae music.[ citation needed ]

Moses' father and brother were both incarcerated when he was younger, so he was primarily raised by his mother. In an interview with Audiomack, Moses discussed the following about his upbringing: "I wouldn’t say it’s what I’m about, but I would say the things I went through, like my older brother and my father going to jail when I was younger... made me become older at a young age because those two were the only two males in the house really. It was [just] me and my mom after a while. So... Growing up where I’m from, you can't slack in no way possible. I had to look at life differently." [6] [7]

Music career

Moses has worked with established rappers such as Pop Smoke, Rah Swish, Stunna Gambino, PnB Rock, Asian Doll and others. One of the first songs he was featured in is "Y'all Know The Gang" by F1, which was released on YouTube on April 26, 2016.[ citation needed ] Moses released his debut mixtape GMTO Vol.1 (Get Money Take Over) on September 4, 2020, through Atlantic Records. [8] The mixtape was planned to feature Pop Smoke on the single "Don't Start Pt.2" but his verse was removed and instead used for his own song "Defiant" featuring Dread WOO and Travi as part of his second posthumous album. [9]

In 2021, Moses was then featured on a remix of his previously released song "30" on Faith alongside fellow Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke. The song peaked at 97 on the Billboard Hot 100, 39 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and 48 on the Canadian Hot 100. [4] Moses then released his second mixtape Same Energy on July 24, 2021, through Atlantic Records, which was supported by four singles and featured PnB Rock and Leeky G Bando. [10] He subsequently released his debut extended play Same Ole Bizzy on December 14, 2022 through both Warner Music Group and X5 Music Group.[ citation needed ] The EP featured previously released songs, which include "Top 5", "Don't Start Pt.2" and "Outro" coming from GMTO Vol.1 (Get Money Take Over) and "My Shit" coming from Same Energy. Two new singles ("2016" and "No Passes") were also included.

In 2023, Moses released his second extended play Hip-Hop at Fifty: Bizzy Banks . The EP again featured previously released songs including "Top 5", "Swirv" and "Neo" coming from GMTO Vol.1 (Get Money Take Over), "My Shit" coming from Same Energy and the original version of "30" which was a previously released single from 2019. His 2023 single "Ok Ok Ok" was met with acclaim from Billboard as a "Fresh Pick for 2023", with special mention of the "thumping beat and catchy verses." [11]

Bizzy released the sequel to his first mixtape GMTO Vol.1 (Get Money Take Over), titled GMTO Vol.2 (Get Money Take Over) . The mixtape released on March 8, 2024 and features guest appearances from Leeky G Bando, Kenzo B, Luh Tyler and Shawny Binladen. [12] [13] The mixtape has been supported by singles "Ok Ok Ok", "On Lock", "Obama" and "Don't Start Pt.3".

As of August 2023, Moses has released three mixtapes, two extended plays and 39 singles (including 13 as a featured artist).

2022 arrest

On January 7, 2022, the Hackensack Police Department's SWAT team took Moses into custody after a raid of his Hackensack apartment. They seized two pounds of marijuana, $2,750 in cash and a revolver loaded with hollow point bullets. [14] Moses was charged with several firearms and drug trafficking offenses.

Following the raid, police sent Moses to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, where he awaited a court appearance. [1] [15] [16] [17]

On 13 August, 2022 Moses posted via Instagram that he had been released, over 7 months after his initial arrest. [18]

Pop Smoke began his music career in 2018 when visiting a Brooklyn recording studio with fellow rapper Jay Gwuapo. After Gwuapo got inebriated on drugs and fell asleep, Pop Smoke went into a booth to try rapping for the first time.
