Loren Robert White (born August 22, 1938) is an American former professional football player who was a fullback for the Houston Oilers of the American Football League (AFL). He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the late 1950s. White played fullback and linebacker on defense. [1] In 1957, he and the Buckeyes won the Big Ten Conference outright and won the 1958 Rose Bowl, 10–7, over Oregon. [2] In 1958, he led in scoring and rushing for the Buckeyes. [3]
In 1958, White was named First-team All-American. [4] He was also named Academic All-American Player of the Year in 1958. [5] In 1957, 1958, and 1959 he was named an Ohio State Academic All-Big Ten Honoree. [5] In 1958 White placed 4th as the Buckeyes Heisman Trophy finalist. [6]
In his only NFL season, White played just six games.
Archie Mason Griffin is an American former football running back who played with the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and is the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA history, 1974-1975, considered one of the greatest college football players of all time.
